On the stable branch I cannot jump.
On staging branch the input is screwed up. It seems to be a key repetition.
Even if I open the console with f1 each typed letter appears twice: cclliieenntt.ffppss
I sending bug in bug system. Related from https://issuetracker.unity3d.com/issues/linux-keystrokes-recorded-twice
Same problem is happening for me, Mouse inputs are fine, seems to be only keyboard inputs are repeating.
I am having this problem as well! Linux people are stuck not playing the first week of the month again.
Seems similar to this from some years ago. Keyboard controls bug.
This seems to be a Unity 2018.01 bug for Linux users. I have tested this keyboard input bug and the game will even crash if you try to push through the bug I can honestly say this bug makes the game unplayable. I know Gary gets frustrated with us Linux users but I just want to say thank you nevertheless for supporting THE BEST game on linux. I'm a I.T. support tech for a very large company and we are up to our neck in windows 10 bugs for our various supported programs. This said, I know what it's like when you get fringe users complaining about software bugs.
I'm having a lot of difficulty attempting to resolve this Unity 2018.01 issue from the user / client side and I'm out of ideas... Any input that the Rust team can provide to get me back into the "butt naked world" would be greatly appreciated.
@Tear777 Get Windows!
it seems to be related to Gnome. On openbox it does not show this bug.
What for? It's easier not to use what does not work.
same here
COULD SOMEONE FROM FACEPUNCH RESPOND TO US PLEASE?
.....
It has been 28 days and still no response if this is even going to be fixed... I already wait many days to even hear something like: Yes/No, We are/are not working on the fix.
Feels bad. You know, for every person who actually reports a problem, there are exponentially more users who do not. Do not think there are only 5 people(anomalies) who have this problem.
Keystrokes recorded twice
Ok well, I guess the only thing I can do is not give FP anymore money. FU2
Just ignore us til the next update.
I think this should not be taken for granted, so first of all: Thank you, Face Punch, for supporting Linux, even though this is a constant source of work for you while not significantly increasing your revenue.
This issue has not been resolved in the recent updates and I wanted to bump this thread, because I find it hard to manage my server without being able to join. Or rather with being able to join but not being able to do anything productive. Any comment on the status or even just an official acknowledgment would be greatly appreciated, because currently I am not sure whether posting this here is completely pointless or not. And I guess the same goes for most of the others who posted here. So, if you read this, just leave a short reply, please.
I just bought this game, because I saw it supports Ubuntu, but can't play due to this bug. Could we please get a fix or workaround?
Thanks for supporting Linux either way.
@CasperA My advise is to get a refund while you still can. I have had the game since about December 2017, and every other update breaks the game for me, and I have to wait for a month (if im lucky) for them to fix it. I run a 400 man gaming community, and we run a dedicated Rust server which i cannot play on. Some people are gracious to Facepunch, and thank them for even trying to do Linux, but, if we are giving them money, it isnt a charity or a favor. I gave up and play Ark now, and honestly, i wasnt into the dino thing but, there is so much more to do in ark, and it fricken works, so I don't even care anymore. We are thinking about discontinuing our rust server. Casper, get a refund while you still can. You have nothing but problems to look forward too.
The help section is a community help section, where other users can help other users. The developers rarely come in here, as this is meant primarily for users to help other users. If you want their direct assistance create an official support ticket official support website
With that being said from all I've read it appears to be a Unity problem, not necessarily a rust problem. The devs will be able to tell you more once you've made a support ticket.
Well it wasn't a "problem with unity" until like 2 months ago, when FP came out with their monthly update, the one with the keycards I believe.. I honestly don't care much anymore. If the game doesn't work by August's update, I will just uninstall it, and cancel our dedicated server, which only a couple people are still using now anyway.
That was more or less when they updated to the new engine. Th devs read the forums, but like I said this section is primarily for community help and they generally only respond to report tickets. I've posted a sticky up at the top in regards to Linux and it's problems, it's already been stated that linux specific bugs will no longer be addressed in part due to not being able to give it the attention it deserves and in part due to the community generally being pricks. Those who own the linux version will still receive the updates, but the linux version is no longer for sale on the steam store.
