The Most Inept Dystopian Government - The Templin Institute

This kind of thing is so common in science-fiction and especially young adult fiction. Corporations and governments are so comically inept and designed for the sole purpose to be toppled that it makes the theme and message of the story generic and pretentious. Avatar and What Happened to Monday are prime examples that are not based on young adult fiction. In the former the evil corporation refer to the Na'vi as savages and act 1:1 like sneering imperialists against the [of course, literal] one-with-nature "noble savages" that makes it feel like it was written as a Saturday morning cartoon or animated direct-to-DVD film and not a multi-million dollar production that took a decade of development; it's just something we've have seen time and time again (incidentally, it's because the humans are such cartoon evils that I found them a hell of a lot more entertaining than watching the holistic blue monkey cats). In the latter: of course the government/corporation can kill with impunity in broad daylight and the stability of the society hinges on one big predictable lie which, if exposed, dismantles everything yet fails to address an alternative to the crisis that gave rise to the power in the first place. Not to mention the messages of fighting the Man or the Power when the Hollywood machine is very much a part of that which they often criticize so much (corporate greed and whatnot).
most young adult fiction has a lovely tendency to insult the intelligence of its audience and have them not even be aware of it
But mostly for female audience for box-office sales.
And think about it, they purposely add Romance element(s) either by Authors who wrotes these book that become movies or producer and CEO for quick buck.
I think this is the first Templin Institute video I've enjoyed. They should do more videos like this.
Huh, really? What makes the rest of their videos less interesting for you?
Most of the time their videos say nothing I couldn't have learnt from a 30 second gander at the work's Wikia.
