Scotland has a childhood obesity problem, and Nicola Sturgeon is – quite rightly – worried about it.
Unfortunately, rather than undertake a serious analysis of the various nuanced socioeconomic factors at play in order to create a considered multi-pronged approach to tackle it, she’s been bitten by the Jamie Oliver bug, which has manifested over and over again as a shockingly thoughtless reaction along the lines of “This looks unhealthy! Let’s make it really expensive so that stupid poor people don’t eat it!”
It was unfortunate that she unveiled her plans while meeting with Oliver, and that her quest to end two-for-one pizza deals has taken centre stage. It’s easy to see why – it’s not going down particularly well that a celebrity chef from Essex worth £400m, who owns a chain of fairly mediocre and overpriced Italian restaurants, is telling people in Scotland what sort of pizza they should and should not eat.
It also implies that the people who will stop ordering pizza because it’s too expensive for them to afford have other – healthier – alternatives, which they are intentionally avoiding, and we need to help them see the light by removing their ability to make those choices for themselves.
What about people who just want to order pizzas for themselves and some friends, and also want to save money?

I thought Jamie Oliver, out of anyone, would know that this isn't how you curb obesity.
Stopping people from buying the pizza won't do anything else besides make them more ashamed knowing that they went the extra mile just to have pizza, causing them to repress those feelings and be ashamed of themselves.
I mean I may be projecting there a bit but fuck I used to be Obese but I lost all that weight, and it wasn't because people banned food it was because I knew how much calories I was taking in.
I could eat an entire pizza as my only food for the day and I'd be fine.
Not the healthiest thing but when it comes to gaining weight, I'd be fine, I'd probably gain a bit but not a shit ton.
Also you can get obese on anything, eating healthy can get you overweight.
If you eat too many Apples, Bananas, Grapes, Avocados, so on, you will gain weight.

I agree with your post but to be fair you would have to eat an insane amount of fruit per day to gain weight.
IIRC scotland is also taking steps towards this at the moment
A sugary drinks tax was recently introduced for that very reason

Maybe he could do something to help with the cost of living by promoting the lowering of fresh food prices, educating people on how to cook CORRECTLY and not with his retarded salt infested/olive oil drowned recipes instead of being an insufferable, scapegoating cunt.

Main issue I have with pizza places is that just getting a single pizza by itself is crazy expensive.
Like you can get a pizza or you can get 2 pizzas 2 sides and a drink for the same price.

I've never been a fan of Jaimie Oliver. He doesn't seem to get that making cheap food more expensive won't make the more expensive healthier food any more accessible to poor people. If I couldn't get a 2 pizza meal deal from Pizza Hut for €5 more than a single pizza it won't make me go out and buy more expensive healthy food, it'll probably just drive me to eat less because I don't have that much money in the first place. The entire reason I'm getting the two pizza deal is because it can feed 5 people and have some slices left over for the next day.
I respect Jamie's cooking talent and his passion, but making people eat healthier was something he accomplished better with his Ministry of Food/30 minute meal books than it was by banning vending machines and now this.

Man, me and my friend used to go to Burger King for the two for 10 euro deal because we where dirt poor and it was a great way to eat fast food from time to time without wasting too much cash. Banning this kinda shit just hurts us poor peeps.
