https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2018-05-18-no-mans-skys-next-big-update-adds-multiplayer-out-in-july Bit late there, mate.
I'm actually kind of impressed they're still working on NMS. Better late than never I guess but jeez this is really pushing that
More like No man 2 play
I have to admit, No man's sky has been looking better and better with each update. I was sorely disappointed with its first release but now it's actually a pretty good game. Still lacking in a few departments, don't get me wrong, but still fun.
Shammy's gonna go nuts.
While they are making good on their promises very gradually, there is still an element of trust that has been completely shattered and i can't come back from that as a consumer. I certainly will think twice when i look at media coverage on Hello Games.
Honestly if it were for the marketing getting way out of hand. I think NMS would have been much better received
NMS could really have used two more years to cook before it released, but they absolutely couldn't afford more development time at the time. Glad they continued to develop it despite everything.
I said it before and I'll say it again: No Man's Sky is on track for comeback of the century at this rate.
Just not this decade
eh, it'll go from a crap experience to a relatively ok experience.
I feel bad for saying this but I forgot this game existed...
Eh, perhaps. The overhype definitely killed a lot of it for some people but if I'm looking for some comfy space game NMS has come a long way.
Almost 2 years too late. I might reinstall and give it a try, but the problem with this "Co-op" is you're still stuck with crappy procgen planets , Trex Butterfly's and boring NPCs.
They sold us an early access game for 60$
So, what can you actually do with your coop partner besides exploring? Like, he says you can work together to survive, but what's there to survive?
Boredom?
Does it run any better? I bought it a little while after it came out but refunded it because it ran like absolute shit and didn't look good enough to have any business running like shit. I got a new GPU since then so maybe it will be playable.
PS4, sorry.
NMS ended up being exactly what I thought it was going to be. Most people had a severely unrealistic expectation of it because of the extreme Sony marketing. I was expecting Space Engine with some basic gameplay to it, and I was expecting it to be indie and not a triple A game. That's pretty much exactly what we got. Only problem for me was the ridiculous pricing. Should've been $20.
says increasingly nervous man for 4th time this year
The funny thing is, I bought NMS just before launch after seeing the PS launch three days earlier. I knew it was pretty much a procgen grindfest. But what got me mad was, Sean Murray has said that the generator gets weirder the closer you get to the center of the galaxy. This was never walked back. So when NMS actually launched and I started playing with it, I didn't mind that the first few planets I was on looked fairly similar underneath the randomly chosen colors and vegetation models, because I expected it to get weirder and more interesting. 40 hours later and it was very clear that the generator is not in the least tuned to get weirder based on... well any factor at all. Waaaaay past the refund point, rip. If NMS had been marketed and presented as exactly what it actually is, I'd have happily bought it for $30. At $60 I feel like Hello Games and Sony tricked me, and I'm not letting them do it again.
They also could've just admitted they were releasing prematurely and called it early access. People would've been a lot more forgiving.
I agree, the way they handled the marketing and launch killed what could've been a niche but successful title
keep dreaming lol They missed their chance by a country mile. They'd have to release No Man's Sky 2 to even have a chance a comeback.
At this point No Man's Sky is just $60 early access courtesy of Sony.
They should have released it as early access. At least then people would have actually gone back to look at it once it completed all of it's updates.
Are they really that hard up for sales they need to hit up the Xbox crowd now? The release was such a disaster that no one in their right mind is gonna pick it up, new updates be damned
Honestly, I'd be down for just exploration-oriented coop. I've a friend who works long hours, and at the end of the day, he just wants to play some low-thought low-effort games as background noise as we talk. I mean, hell, we played Farming Simulator together during those times. So a chill exploration-oriented multiplayer Space Engine would work great for us. That is, of course, if it's at a decent price.
No. Stop. Every fucking NMS thread. IT WAS NOT SONY WHO SPOUTED BULLSHIT CONSTANTLY. It was Sean Murray, the lead developer of the game who wouldn't stop lying and he started lying before Sony even got involved. And yes, he lied a lot. Saying the game has multiplayer, that you'll be able to see other players, that changes you make in the world can be seen by others were all lies.
