I sure hope they shoveled the last of the homeless people off the streets before the big day.
You think you have it bad? Got an 8 hour retail shift coming up in half an hour, gonna be hell.
People legit caring about this is the thing i could never even begin to understand
Ah I finally see the purpose of the big woop rating
I hope you have hoovered your front room before you start watching it surfs, her madge will no if you don't, and will fuck you up.
Who the fuck cares about these welfare twats
I think it's nice
I salute you, brave soul
I wonder how many times the BBC coverage is going to say the word "Fairytale" to make sure it gets good ratings in the US.
I tip my fedora at you fellow intellectual.
Can we just fast forward from the ceremony to the Ashen's video about royal wedding 2.0 tat?
No, let me tell you about fire for a while.
The sermon went on a bit too long, I think. Don't think talking about disease and fire was fitting for a royal wedding.
And what does your husband think?
Bishop Curry went in. Had all the royals looking so uncomfortable and confused. I was dying laughing.
I don't understand the big deal
Guys can enjoy a wedding too ya prick
It's nice that a couple that loves each other is getting married, though it is annoying have to hear about it so often.
If I'm not mistaken it also brings up some issues that the country is facing and they're trying to turn away from them? At one hand it's understandable, it's a wedding and special celebration, you kind of don't want to think about anything bad during times like these, but at same time I feel like this might be a good opportunity to speak these issues out?
You can have him back.
Nah he's a part of mass brainwashing that should've ended a long time ago. Y'all can keep him now.
No thanks, we'll keep our tradition and culture instead of becoming a nebulous, cosmopolitan consumerist society.
Not sure why you're attacking me over it but okay. Keep projecting, bruh.
I attacked you?
wow... just got back from watching all two and a half hours of the stream.
the american bishop's address was definitely the highlight. lmao
Harry looked like he was bricking it at first. All smiles at the end though, fantastic wedding, lovely couple
British culture is a lot of things, all of what you listed is fair to include (but I don't see whats so inherently bad about nationalism).
But British culture also includes 1000 years of invention, political development, philosophy, science, art and music that has influenced the entire world.
There's plenty to be ashamed of (I consider self-reflection/self-deprecation to be apart of British culture) but if you can't find an ounce of pride in your own culture, I think that's pretty sad.
I mean, sure, you can be selective about every nation's history and you'll dig up all the bad. I'm not the biggest fan of our imperial history. Still, the Royal family have historically been patrons of the arts and music (Royal Academy of Arts, Royal Academy of Dance, Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, Royal Academy of Music), education (King's College, Cambridge, Imperial College, Royal Academy of Engineering).
Painters like Turner, Van Dyck, Allan Ramsay, all produced works for the Royals. James I was a patron of literary works, with Shakespeare and Ben Johnson among others who flourished during his reign, with Shakespeare in particular being a huge influence on western dramatic performances.
We have a great history of writers, artists, dramatists, composers - I resent the idea that our culture is shit, and the Royals have historically done their part to help it propagate.
I really liked what that bishop said.
A lot of it was positive and uplifting
Something we could all definitely use more of.
Hundreds of thousands maybe millions of people got to have a really happy day today watching two people get married.
If you cant set aside your hatred for the Royal family to just let two people that love each other enjoy a wedding then there's something deeply wrong with you IMHO.
I got 14 hours of support work. Today and tomorrow. Not even enough time to dust off ol' Gilly and sing some Chumbawamba.
