I looked at him like, ‘Are you serious?’ He’s like, ‘Yeah, very serious.’ ” “Ma’am, the reason I asked you for your ID is because I came in here, and I saw that you guys are speaking Spanish, which is very unheard of up here,” the agent can be heard saying in the video. Suda asks whether they are being racially profiled; the agent says no. “It has nothing to do with that,” the agent tells her. “It’s the fact that it has to do with you guys speaking Spanish in the store, in a state where it’s predominantly English-speaking.” “Although most Border Patrol work is conducted in the immediate border area, agents have broad law enforcement authorities and are not limited to a specific geography within the United States. They have the authority to question individuals, make arrests, and take and consider evidence.”

You weren't speaking American and I thought you were an illegal is all. Not racial at all." What a shitshow.
Why would, hypothetically, Mexicans be trying to get in via the Canadian border?
That's kinda dumb.
Because people actually believe that instead of just flying and staying in america, mexicans are flying to canada, then crossing the border there. A user on this very board said that.
aahahah what the fuck, let me guess, "Dude that border is less patrolled its so much easier to get in there"
a trick to stel er jerbz
The US has no official language, can they please stop with this horseshit. Spanish is probably spoken a lot in the southwest and Texas. (I think that guy running against Ted Cruz speaks fluent Spanish)
Even here in Virginia there is innumerable amounts of Spanish-speaking families. You stop someone here for speaking Spanish and you will be called out by many bystanders as ignorant for it. Stuff like this going on is definitely racially-driven horseshit. ”you best be speaking American in MY country”
i wonder the size of the brick this guy would shit if he caught someone speaking russian or chinese
This is why this and organizations like ICE worry me. Cause half the time im afraid it'll attract racists/bigoted jackasses who are able to play out their power fantasies under the guise of "The Law"
this just reminds me of that trump story that he apparently got really worked up about voter fraud because a friend saw some hispanics waiting in a poll line https://www.nytimes.com/2017/01/25/us/politics/trump-bernhard-langer-voting-fraud.html
ofc he thinks any kind of hispanics or "Brown people" as illegal voters. Trump is a racist, and the fact people try to dance around that fact is pathetic.
Gringos will never see it coming
Trump did refuse to sell real estate to black people apparently. If someone is leaving money on the table because the customer is a certain race, they're racist.
This is turning into a different type of Spanish Inquisition.
I thought that was his dad?
I'm pretty sure that Spanish is the second most common language in the US after English.
I pretty sure his dad was the one who got arrested for raiding a black neighborhood.
Originally thought you meant the whole world but Wikipedia says it's number two with 40.5 million people who speak it at home.
I wager every state in the mainland has a very large Spanish-speaking demographic at this point, dunno about the other two though
https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/4/43/Tree_map_of_languages_in_the_United_States.png ~40mil Spanish speakers vs ~243mil English speakers.
That's still 1/6 of the population
Yep, in fact many jobs down here are either exclusively posted in Spanish or require you to be bilingual in Spanish to even apply. Spanish has a very large presence all throughout Texas and I'm sure it's that way for the rest of the border states (and to some extent the rest of the US).
This is what happens when you empower racists
the scaling on this tree map is odd and definitely gives the idea that the spanish speakers are a vast minority instead of the real 1/6th that it is, that spanish block is definitely not 1/6th of the english one.

It doesn't do that job very well visually, must be a trick of the eye but I feel like other graphs might be better suited to this job
