Even here in Virginia there is innumerable amounts of Spanish-speaking families. You stop someone here for speaking Spanish and you will be called out by many bystanders as ignorant for it. Yep, in fact many jobs down here are either exclusively posted in Spanish or require you to be bilingual in Spanish to even apply. Spanish has a very large presence all throughout Texas and I'm sure it's that way for the rest of the border states (and to some extent the rest of the US).
