a super-earth in our own solar system has incredible scientific potential. i've been hearing about the possibility of an undiscovered planet for a while now and more evidence is exciting.
How could we have not known all this time?
Don't we have arrays of telescopes that scour the skies?
It's hard to see things when they don't emit light or heat of any kind.
Could've sworn they already had a bunch of evidence to suggest such a thing exists
Yea guys there is a planet beyond Neptune, it is called Pluto the abandoned planet :c
Pretty amazing that we've found planets in other solar systems before we (potentially) found the ones in our own solar system. It's like us scouting out mars while the bottom of the ocean remains largely unexplored or when we keep discovering new species in the rain forests. As a kid I mourned the whole "too late for tall ships, too early for space ships" thing but there's still a hell of a lot to be discovered.
You could always work as a cargo ship operator, they don't get paid very well but you'd be well traveled in one of the most competitive markets on the planet, as for starships elon is currently working on his space kayaks and we have the moon as a natural jetty for space galleons So if your in your teens you might just see some galleons being commissioned in your lifetime.
27 and stable job. Probs not gonna change industry unless something mega disruptive happens. Cool advice though
Nibiru is coming you guys.
I really hate when people get the Planet X vibe from these articles. This isn't some end of the world, government conspiracy to hide a planet stuff, it's just neat science.
I think it's really interesting and plausible that there may be another gas giant or something just chilling out in the far reaches of the sun's gravity.
I wonder, what do you think scientists would name it if it were to be confirmed?
Unfortunately they were so excited when they realised it might exist that they saved it straight onto the desktop as "New Planet (14).planet" and now we're stuck with that name forever
To be completely honest I would be disappointed if we didn't call it Niburu at this point.
It's been suspected that there is a planet with an elliptic orbit for a while, noticed by slight gravity tugs on Jupiter and such, would be really cool if that was true.
Good lord, please, don't let them call it Nibiru. That'll just validate the kooks.
When and if this is confirmed, so many changes have to be made. Like Distant Worlds or Stellaris. This is a nightmare
