Disenchantment
It’s been nearly 20 years since Matt Groening has given you a new show, so… it’s time.
Netflix released the first images of Disenchantment, an animated fantasy series that features the voices of Abbi Jacobson, Nat Faxon, and Eric Andre. Created by Groening (The Simpsons, Futurama),
the show takes place in the crumbling medieval kingdom named Dreamland
and centers on the exploits of a hard-drinking princess named Bean
(Jacobson), her plucky elf friend Elfo (Faxon), and her personal demon
Luci (Andre) as they match wits with “ogres, sprites, harpies, imps,
trolls, walruses, and lots of human fools.”
The series, whose 10-episode first season launches
Aug. 17, also will feature the voice talents of John DiMaggio, Billy
West, Maurice LaMarche, Tress MacNeille, David Herman, Matt Berry, Jeny
Batten, Rich Fulcher, Noel Fielding, and Lucy Montgomery.
“Ultimately, Disenchantment will be about life
and death, love and sex, and how to keep laughing in a world full of
suffering and idiots, despite what the elders and wizards and other
jerks tell you,” is how Groening described the show last year.
Groening teased parts of the images yesterday on Reddit, but here they are in their full cartoon glory.

I'm glad my fav from Broad City got a new job, but idk how this will go.
Eh? I feel like he already covered the good fantasy tropes in Bender's Game. Plus that goblin is literally just a green Bart with Moe's upper lip.
So Bart fell in a vat of acid like the Joker?
I love fantasy shit so I'm looking forward to it.
Also, is that Codemaster85's avatar?
Might give it a shot. I wouldn’t mind a ne Futurama.

Also the design for the girl is one he has used for a lot of teenage girl characters in The Simpsons. Maybe it's just because his style is so old but I can't not see the image in the OP as a Simpsons gag.
I'm willing to give it a go. Futurama was consistently good and Simpson was good for a long time. My only real complaint, just from the one picture would be that they don't seem too memorable. But we'll see.
I mean yeah The Simpsons has been going on for 25 years, his artstyle has had it's run for a long ass time and anything new he's gonna make is gonna look pretty same-y
what lmao

Perspective would dictate that the center spike should be pointing directly toward the viewer, yet it is clearly pointing upwards in a totally illogical fashion.
Boy, I really hope somebody got fired for this blunder!
If it can be half the quality of golden age Simpsons, I'll be happy as shit.
Looking forward to it, Simpsons and Futurama where great while he had heavy involvement, no reason for this not to have a few good seasons
i hope it's not just an adventure time rehash
there was a thread on /co/ a week or so ago where someone who claimed to work on the show said it was terrible and the worst working experience of their life. they had no proof but their description of the demon character matches up exactly with the reveal now /co/
The main demon is just a silhouette. Black with no detail except for an eye (like a hieroglyph).
John Dimaggio, Billy West, and Maurice Lamarche. That's like 90% of the main Futurama cast right there.
I'm all for it if it does well, but I think they're making a bad decision by keeping the same exact art style that Groening's last two shows had.
It's not just the style. The designs are very similar to ones which have shown up on the Simpsons repeatedly, especially back in the day when Groening was more involved.
Futurama has the same art style but the character designs are different enough to distinguish it. In the Simpson/Futurama crossover comic you can really see the difference when characters from each show are in the same frame. The girl here just looks like they took a side character from the Simpsons and made her skin flesh tone instead of yellow.
Honestly I'm optimistic for this. I like the character designs (though i've always really liked matt groening's artstyle regardless) and I have faith in Groening to still be able to make a good show. Plus I've kinda been itching for this since I finished Futurama and exhausted the good seasons of The Simpsons.
man i have a sudden urge to rewatch futrama
This lines up with what they've said, but who knows if it'll actually suck as much as someone who's clearly had a frustrating time working on the show thinks of it.

Basically every episode revolves around them getting drunk and being assholes to everyone around them with forced unearned sentimentality. A huge note we kept getting is make it epic/cinematic ala game of thrones. But the scripts are overloaded with unfunny jokes so theres no time to build the cinematic atmosphere he wants.

It's the goddamn baby now grownup.
So it's fantasy Always Sunny on a big scale?
Unless it was used to whack something hard and the spike got bent.
Sounds like it might suffer from the same issues the seasons after ~10 of the Simpsons have. It'll probably be saturated with dumb pop culture references too.
Yeah, that's just Bart.
That's literally just Bart in a pointy hat with a weird nose and ears.
Groening, make that not Bart.
