Tropical Cyclone Mekunu Brings Life-Threatening Flooding Concerns to Oman, Yemen

Another unusual tropical cyclone has developed in the Arabian Sea.
Flooding in parts of Oman and Yemen will be the biggest concern.
Tropical Cyclone Mekunu might also be the equivalent of a Category 1 or 2 hurricane at landfall.
This could be the first such landfall in southwestern Oman or eastern Yemen in the satellite era.
Although the Arabian Peninsula is affected by a tropical cyclone every one to two years, a tropical cyclone landfall at the equivalent strength of a hurricane is rare in western Oman or eastern Yemen.
The last tropical cyclone with a hurricane-equivalent intensity to track near southwestern Oman's Dhofar Governorate was in May 1959, according to NOAA's historical database; there is no record of a Category 2 landfall in this part of Oman in NOAA's database.
More recently, Tropical Cyclone Keila made landfall in southwestern Oman as the equivalent of a tropical storm on Nov. 3, 2011. Keila brought about 28 inches of rainfall to the mountains near Salalah, and flash flooding was observed across much of the country. At least 14 people were killed.
If there Middle Eastern cyclones sound unusual to you, they are. No storms made landfall in this region last year or the year prior.

How the fuck did we get to the point that climate change is a partisan issue, on that note? Is it partisan in more than just in the US, or are we uniquely bad about that?
I think the US is mostly the worst for that, although pseudo-science is is used quite a lot by both the far-left and far-right fringes in my experience.
