You've got to be pretty fucking stupid to do this. Thinking someone else fucked with the parachute is literally the first assumption you'd make if someone died from a knackered parachute
Fucking hell, the article skirts over it but he tried to blow up his house with his kids in it.
Cilliers, 38, of the Royal Army Physical Training Corps, told Winchester crown court that a “random killer” may have sabotaged his 42-year-old wife’s rig at the Army Parachute Association at Netheravon, Wiltshire, on 5 April 2015. He also suggested that the jury needed to consider whether she had tampered with her own parachute because she wanted to kill herself. What an idiot
This man is clearly incapable of any empathy. It's honestly terrifying to think how many monsters like this guy live out their lives without getting caught because they play it much smarter.
from what I understand parachute failure deaths are actually like insaaaanely low
These plans are literally something you'd see in a comedy show wtf
Apparently during police interviews he kept getting his wife and mistress mixed up when he was trying to act worried and upset.
Yeah, it's still a hell of a way to die.
The most amazing thing about this story is that the woman fucking survived falling a kilometer with relatively minor injuries considering. Landed in a freshly ploughed field.
It's a death that lets you contemplate your existence, and that's what makes it so terrifying.

Way to take a hit, champ.

He looks like ElectroBOOM without the monobrow
Christ, those are some fascinating stories!
Article doesn't say but I imagine the parachute still managed to partially deploy, which would've slowed her down significantly. Still probably would've died if not for that field tho
takes a special kind of fucked up person to try to kill their wife and mother of their 6 children for insurance money. throw this mother fucker in a cell and leave him there.
Eh, waste of resources. I'm personally of the mind that if a person serves no purpose, and is in fact a detriment, they don't need to be around anyways.
Mr Justice Sweeney thanked the jurors for fulfilling their duty “with distinction” and told them: “The burden now falls on me on what to do as far as this defendant is concerned; that too is a heavy burden.” He continued: “It’s an important part of any sentencing exercise where there is a victim or intended victim, as there plainly is in this case, that the court gives the victim an opportunity to make a statement and despite all the ups and downs that is what I am going to afford Mrs Cilliers the opportunity if she wishes to take it.” Maybe not the right words to use there.
