all of your heroes are creeps
Seriously how fucking hard is it to not be a complete creep? The whole company sounds pretty disastrous since the article shows they had pretty much no planning with how HR issues were handled either.
The entertainment industry is filthy as a whole This is why I'm fully anti-Hollywood, there isn't a single ounce of good that comes out of the film industry. Not an ounce.
Trial by media set one hell of a precedent.
People change when put into such positions of power without much scrutiny or recourse.
Not Tom Hanks r-right?
Personally being that I'm not a creep, I genuinely don't see myself trying to rape some other man. Maybe it's just me though. Tom Hanks is the peak human specimen. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/716/8395fa1e-4d4b-4563-bda5-e84e6c848bcb/image.png
While I completely agree that Hollywood could certainly use a thorough cleansing, saying that the entire entertainment industry is a steaming pile of poop with zero value is a bit of a stretch. The industry contains so much more than just a bunch of powertripping sexually frustrated people with loose hands. Hollywood != Entertainment industry
I guess I should say "mainstream big money film and music" industry rather than the broad-stroke of "entertainment" industry.
I refuse to believe this isn't some sort of smear campaign against him.
I'm not even going to pretend to be surprised anymore.
They all come out because now is a good time for them to come out. Back then when it actually happened they didn't say anything (most likely because of possible consequences for them) but they still could have always gone to the police to notify them about it. They never did. Now in time of #metoo it's appropriate for them. Even now, instead of going to the Police, she'd rather go to the media to talk about the issues. I don't want to say that they are all creditless. They probably speak the truth or not. I just wait until the end of the investigations, etc. before making my opinion on people like Freeman.
I feel like the personality and charisma necessary for being a celebrity increases your chances of being a powerful manipulative creep. Not saying Freeman is one just that, but that's probably why all these celebrities and TV personalities are creeps.
But people also shouldn't (not saying you are) immediately assume that he did in fact do those things. Everyone should take it unbiased and wait for evidence or investigation into said claims, otherwise this becomes a very dangerous scenario if the accused turns out to be innocent. Not only could it cause defamation, it waters down sexual harassment claims overall.
I believe in "innocent until proven guilty", just as I did with Bill Cosby. Didn't work out then but I'm sticking to what's just.
Wut? You hate Hollywood because of all the allegations, but you don't believe the allegations?
I always hear these allegations yet I very rarely hear if they're proven or not.
"But people also shouldn't (not saying you are) immediately assume..." I agree with your statement just as much as the vice versa.
Or if they do it should because they're seeing signs, not because they find it difficult believe is true. I guess those kind of mean the same thing. What I'm trying to get is that if it were a smear and red flags were apparent out the gates it would be reasonable to speculate then. Like maybe the accusers profit from the decline of the career of the accused or something. But I agree, going "cant be true he seems nice" is dangerous thinking.
Its more that I'm taking them with a grain of salt, but when you go off what certain people have said you can tell for sure that its true. Just look at how Weinstein and Spacey reacted after all, as well as the fact that we convicted Cosby. I believe this was a long running issue and it was ignored for way too long. Most of my hate for Hollywood is because of its business practices and shit it produces.
just wait till you hear about Nicholas Cage
Morgan Freeman Apologizes Amid Sexual Misconduct Accusations That didn't take long.
Right 8 people including a CNN reporter who was almost certainly risking her job if the allegations were false all just came up with a smear campaign against Morgan Freeman for...what reason? Jesus Christ I get innocent til proven guilty but you're more willing to think that 8 people smeared Morgan Freeman just because? Give me a break
At this point I'm placing my money on who's next to be accused. And the money's going on Chris Pratt. It's always the ones you least expect.
You could honestly tell me Mr. Rogers was buggering corpses and I'd go "Yeah, it figures".
I'm curious why when any celebrity, no matter how unlikely, gets accused of these things (no matter how minor) people instantly demonize them even though innocent until proven guilty is a thing?
I try and take innocent until proven guilty to as much as an extreme as I can but there are some people that just act in way that scream "Ok, they probably did it" After all 'unwanted touching' could be ANYTHING. It's unbelievably vague.
Because people stick up for the 'little guy' and when we hear that someone has taken advantage of individuals they have power over we all sympathize with that. Because nobody wants to be treated unfairly and with the #metoo movement enabling people to feel like they can speak out and that nobody is above the law despite their rank it gives people hope.
I mean, I highly doubt "yeah i'm a creep" was going through his mind either. Though I probably should have worded my post better to not be so general. This is still pretty likely to be a minority of people. It's... not a very affirmative apology though? Like this isn't really over since it doesn't address anything.
