Talk is cheap. 'Specially when it comes from Mitch 'Legislation to protect Mueller not needed' McConnel
At this point this is just our semi-regular reminder that he totally for real for sure supports the Mueller probe, guys, and he's not just saying that for the sake of political brownie points. I'm pretty sure we've had the same wishy washy saying he supports it but never actually doing anything to support it since the probe got started. Largely from Mitch himself, even
Neat words, but what would really show his support would be allowing a floor vote on the bipartisan bill to protect the special counsel which has already passed the Judiciary Committee
To be fair, if he wanted to earn brownie points from his voter-base, he'd be all against the probe. That he's been shown something that we as public citizens won't have any access to for a while, if ever, tells me that the rabbit hole goes much, much deeper than we previously thought if grand-obstructionist McConnel is willing to step back and say "Okay, yeah, this needs to continue".
As much as I hate the sentient tortoise, I can sorta understand why there hasn't been a major legislative push for Mueller's legal protection. Any bill they pass will have to be put in front of Trump who would likely go into a nuclear meltdown at the mere sight of it. So unless they can guarantee two-thirds votes in both senate and house to override his likely veto, I could see the bill doing more damage than anything else in the short term.
I do think something needs to be passed to protect Mueller but I can't really see a means to do it that won't cause Trump to lash out like a wounded rat.
If Trump goes nuclear at being asked to sign a bill protecting the Special Counsel from his attempts to obstruct justice, that's pretty much another reason to impeach him. For an innocent man he can't stop acting guilty.
I'll throw this in here: Bill Kristol has set up a campaign group for Republicans who support the Mueller probe, and is launching TV ads

Various publications are asking the same question:
https://www.weeklystandard.com/andrew-egger/after-the-white-house-briefing-with-the-department-of-justice-devin-nunes-is-quiet
Nunes got the briefing he asked for from the FBI on classified intelligence regarding their confidential source that Nunes and Trump have just spent weeks hyping up as being a "spy!" in the Trump campaign and a piece of evidence in the ongoing disinformation campaign to discredit Mueller and the DOJ/FBI as they try and hold Trump and his co-conspirators accountable. Why does he have nothing at all to say about it when House Democrats and both parties from the Senate are saying that nothing in the briefing gave any evidence or credibility to the Nunes story?
What an obvious little snake. I expect better deception skills out of Rust kids.
He's a literal clinical sociopath, he could care less about approval ratings and has demonstrated such for many many decades.
Don't ask him too many questions or he will throw a tantrum
