NOBEL NOBEL NOBEL NOBEL NOBEL
Are you shitting me
It's barely even been a day. That's just embarrassing.
I bet both Korean leaders are just fucking perplexed now.
uhhh yes? I approve?
Trump is trying to win international diplomacy with an experienced dictator by using basic sales techniques. Act like you're ready to walk away from the whole thing to provoke the other side to make consessions to not let it go. The hope is that the other side has so much buy-in on the idea that they'll make concessions to keep the deal alive. It's embarrassingly transparent. The problem is that Trump has more buy-in than Kim does. He's already chained his reputation to it by claiming credit and bragging that he deseves a Nobel price, and it's exactly where Kim maneuvered him. He can't walk away from this without suffering embarrassment and credibility loss among his supporters. North Korea, meanwhile, holds all the cards and can walk away and go back to threatening everyone for a little while. Kim knows the USA has never attacked a nuclear-armed country.
Trump is like that sort of kid that threatens to leave a group of friends and, when they say "alright" and move on with their lives, comes back crying that they were just kidding
His narcissistic ego tells him he's the most important person around, so he assumes everyone must freak out if he's going to leave. And North Korea knows it.
I actually think this is pretty common with eastern diplomacy. I'm not 100% sure, but iirc the concept of not showing up if the other side disrespects you is nothing new. There's a chance that trump did the right thing for once.
“I said no, me. Talks are cancelled. But I’m leaving talks open.”
The important question is Will the coin go back on sale?
I don't recall Trump himself bragging about a nobel prize, wasn't it just his supporters saying that?
Knew it. He never truely walked away from the table, he just wanted to make it look like he did so the other parties can offer more to the US.
I don't know who said it first, but given that Obama was given one prematurely it seems inevitable that someone would mention it even if they aren't a Trump supporter, and that would start the conversation. Trump voters said that Trump's actions in bringing about unprecedented progress (lol) with the NK situation should earn him a Nobel. North Korea suggested it to butter him up and get him invested. South Korea's President more or less acknowledged it would be appropriate, in effect letting the egotistical maniac take all the credit. Also note that these are not necessarily in order -- point is, basically everyone has been talking about the Nobel, so it's natural for Trump himself. In fairness to Trump, on May 1st, when asked about a Nobel, he gave a mature adult answer: https://www.c-span.org/video/?c4727572/president-trump-responds-nobel-prize-suggestion I just think that President Moon was very nice when he suggested it. I want to get peace. It’s the main thing. We want to get peace. That was a big problem, and I think it’s going to work out well. We’ll see. We’re setting up meetings right now, and I think it’s probably going to be announced over the next couple of days — location and date. But I thought it was very generous of President Moon of South Korea to make that statement, and I appreciate it. But the main thing is to get it done. I want to get it done.Thank you all. Thank you. Thank you very much. A week later: https://twitter.com/Kate_Riga24/status/994247676958072832 https://www.cnn.com/2018/05/09/politics/trump-nobel-prize/index.html Trump was asked by a reporter while holding a Cabinet meeting at the White House whether he deserved the honor, to which the President replied with a large smile: "Everyone thinks so, but I would never say it." Trump instead said he's focused on getting an agreement with North Korea "finished." Make no mistake, Trump absolutely thinks he deserves it but he gets to play the smug salesman and play coy, feeling comfortable with the fact that "everyone" is saying he deserves a Nobel.
Sure got a heckin' bamboozle on them Norks.
No shit they're going to continue, Trump already had coins made with his face on it.
i want to get off mr. bones wild ride
Sure, why not?
what do you mean the coins get cancelled if I don't do the talks???? fine I'll do the frickin talks
INVEST IN TRUMPCOIN
Looks like they were testing to see if he was as desperate for the summit as the media insisted he was.
We're the one who disrespected them in the first place with that fucking Gadaffi comment pence made
From what I've heard, it might not matter. I'd be lying through my teeth if I said that I knew Eastern Asian diplomacy well, but from the people that I've talked to that actually do know a lot about the politics of he region claim that if one were to show up directly after being disrespected, they're going to appear weak and have a bad time, regardless of whose fault it is. I wish I could look this up to verify it but to be honest I have no idea where I'd even start with keywords.
Trumpy railing against "fake news" that makes him look bad again. https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1000396430371106817 https://twitter.com/yashar/status/1000403380395790336 https://twitter.com/Phreaddie/status/1000411668306911233 https://twitter.com/yashar/status/1000418699273175044 Wow, listen to this audio of a guy who doesn't exist saying things Trump said were never said.
There's a reason NATO's sister counterpart SEATO isn't around anymore.
>on background, off-camera Well THAT'S why Trump thinks it never happened. It can't possibly have happened if he didn't see in on TV!
Yeah good luck with that, moron.
Trump's infantile brain never developed object permanence. If it leaves his line of sight, it doesn't exist.
