• Possibility of switching systems (components, scrap, exp etc.)

*I dunno if I can post stuff like this here, but I'm using this forum for the first time* Dear Facepunch, could you please make an option to switch through systems that have been in Rust before (like exp, components, blueprints etc.). I know I can download previous versions of Rust, but they're not getting updated. Me and my friend mostly preferred components system and we would love to go back to those times, because now Rust feels like a full-time job (It always kinda did, but now even more with this new scrap-workbench system, or however it's called) and we just preferred to play when there was component system (previous one), as I said we can download it, but there will be like up to 10-20 people on 1 server + I would want it to get updated. Btw. I bet that there are many people that preferred previous systems and would like to play whatever they want to, I don't think it's that hard to make an option to switch between those systems / make servers decide which system will be used. You would have to balance every system each time when you add something new to game, but I hope it wouldn't be that hard. AND I BEG YOU TO MAKE IT, PLEASE! Even if Facepunch won't respond to it etc. I hope they will at least read it. Btw. Sorry for my english if I made some mistakes, but I'm from Poland.
No, this isn't how game development works, you can't mix and max old and new systems when all the systems depend on each other to work properly. This will never happen.
I have not been playing rust for over a month now, because i absolutely hate the grind you need to do every wipe. I Used to enjoy this system (a lot actually) but after time it really hits you and now when i'm quite busy i can't keep up with other groups and solo players. See you in Conan Exiles i guess
I hope you're wrong, somehow xd (Btw. I'm not sure if you're working in Facepunch but I kinda feel like you are, so I'll talk to you like you're working in FP) I would really love to play in components system, it just feels terrible to play this game now. Of course sometimes I would have lots of fun in new system, but mostly is boring, frustrating and getting a stupid revolver takes eternity (I don't mean that getting ak should be reachable after 2 hours of playing or something like this, but it's ridiculous how long now it takes to get.. Anything, and playing on servers that have more than 2x gather is sensless 'cuz it becomes way too easy at the same time AAAAND most of 2x servers are... Russian... Ugh) I'm really sad now, but what can I do?... Sadly, probably, nothing. I might still play this game in the future, but unless something changes it won't be as good as it was before. Btw. I still watch videos about updates and you guys seem to work only on new mechanics (like chinook event, safe town, boats etc.) instead of balancing things that are broken / not alright (and I don't mean glitches... You know what I mean) *Read this if you are really a member of Facepunch's team* Could you guys at least make medium tier equipment *a bit* easier to get? I don't care about aks, hq armor, rockets etc. that much, but it would be great if getting at least SAR, SAP, syringes etc. would be *a bit* easier. It's really annoying to have full inventory of bandages for HOURS and heal for about 5-10 hp each bandage (I don't really remember how much it heals)
Just looking for something to spend 1 month on because i absolutely hate how they are now adding a bandit town after the compound. Instead they should focus on real problems like balancing raiding in general. If they do add more monuments they should expand towards sea, because there isn't really any "real" monuments right now.
the grind has been lessened over the past 3 month (past 3 patches)...there is scrap everywhere now - including the sea, and even under the sea! Plus you can now "buy" blueprints (items to be used as blueprints) from the scientist compound - which reduces the RNG factor (as compared to farming boxes) and gives you a 100% guaranteed item when you buy it.
I am always amazed by the "grind" complaint, in the early days they introduced upgrading by "hammer" and what theat meant was you built a twig wall and then hit it repeatedly with your hammer till you upgraded it through the stages till you got it to the highest level you had resources for ! And all of that resulted in a lot of noise for your enemies or exploring players to hear, So you not only had the grind of collecting the material (less trash piles and nodes) you then spent a very long time slowly and loudly upgrading your base and stood the risk of being heard and killed while you were doing it,
Easy to say this when you play on modded servers where you probably get a workbench 3 from kit and you're literally a moving base (by that i mean you have a kit build where you get 30k stone, bunch of metal and hqm).
I'll try to play Rust and check if things with scrap really changed that much 'cuz I haven't played Rust for like... 5-6 months? I mean I tried to play some like 2 months ago but only for few hours / minutes. I hope it's really better. Btw. You can forget this topic, if you can't do anything about "switching systems" idea xd
It is easy to say it as i have dont my time on vanilla, If I had only played it for a short time I would not venture an opinion on it . I never said vanilla was bad , i did say i was bored with it, tell me how it is when you have done a few thousand more hours on it, Its like the driver who drove a small cramped car for years getting a sports car , why go back Every one complains about the grind , well if you cant stand the heat get out of the F((( kitchen, I dont play on a 10X modded server , i play on one where you have Zlevels so that the more you work the more you get, My ability to get material for a base and to raid is the same as every other player on the server who spends the hours getting the experience. so it balances out i rarely raid anyone because i usually have more than they do so whats the point. I like to experiment with base design No one gets a wb1,2 or 3 from a kit , you get qa bow, arrows, clothing, berries, 1 thou wood/stone/metal a building plan and some tools. you might think it excessive but there again you might think having anything is excessive, And to repeat my earlier statement, the grind has always been there, its either in looking for materia;s, getting bp's, components or whatever and now in maintaining a base, if you dont like it dont play, I quite agree , there is now so much "floating" loot around the map and in the map that getting decent reward for it at the compound makes things a little easier.
I LOVE the grind! A mater of fact when I play a Monthly Server i get bored after I have everything.... I like the farming and building
I personally liked the old blueprint system best. Less grind, more action. Now I just rage quit if I lose one gear set. I don't have time for all that.
Its not that bad if you only use cloth + sewing kits to make gear sets. (hint hint) ;)
I'd only see that happen in several different servers and that's when it comes to possibility, because when it comes to implementing it? Many progression types in game, equaling the same amount of teams for balancing and read the rambling on the forums, spending resources unequally if one type would be less balanced than another. Like my comment almost makes no sense, so how could such a system make any? Sorry, but official servers will never do that. Try modded servers, those might appeal to you more.
