Another 0.2% and we could have had conspiracy nuts crying about the devil's influence.
I'm proud of ya, Ireland!
Even better about that is that the Number of the Beast is actually 616 and 666 is a mistranslation and has been propagated through history. I'm guessing it's because 6-6-6 "makes sense" since it's a triplet and we humans love and assign meaning to simple patterns like that.
Good on ya Ireland, finally a referendum that wasn't totally fucked.
GG, finally this shitfest of agenda pushing is over.
Now let all the memes rain within Irish fb networks
maybe they should try again until the right gets the result they want and then say "WILL OF THE PEOPLE" all night
Wanted this to be over for so long, so much shit flinging everywhere. Everyone knew what the result was gonna be :V The memes were the only thing keeping me sane.
from the BBC article
The Save The 8th campaign described the result as a "tragedy of historic proportions".
"The unborn child no longer has a right to life recognised by the Irish state," said its spokesman John McGuirk.
However, he vowed that No campaigners would continue to protest, "if and when abortion clinics are opened in Ireland".
so in usual religious conservative fashion they're going to ignore that most people don't agree with them and try to force feed their bullshit down the people's necks
People just started arguing and debating legalizing Weed.
If we continue at this pace - we will be corporate tax haven, where everybody works stoned and snorts cocaine instead of smoking on smoke breaks.
What a time to be alive
most workplaces won't let you drink alcohol while on the job so i don't see why it would be any different with weed or any other drug for that matter
Welcome to the regressive right, everything is undemocratic and you need a do-over till its the result you want then no taksies backsies.
yes, i too live in a land of slippery slopes
me and my cohorting liberal friends are plotting to vote ireland into a land of unstable depravity
Oh I don't have anything against drugs, I will totally vote to legalize it if it happens, I was implying how quickly people jumped off abortion referendum topic and right onto next train (which is good)
Couldn't be prouder of my county right now. 30 years ago my county voted 73% to restrict abortion and now my county voted 69% in favour of it.
Your facts end where my feelings begin :downs:
How do you go from more freedoms for people -> more freedoms for corporations, let alone legalization of hard drugs?
Mate, where I live we already are.
Abortion isn't actually legal though, right? it's just been effectively decriminalized. I'm sure legislature will work on fixing that soon though.
Better legalized than in the hands of Criminal gangs and Cartels. People should be allow to do whatever the hell they want with their bodies, instead of forcing them not to and indirectly cause more death and destruction as money is given to the gangs/cartels from the illegal drug trade.
The fact people dont fucking that in this day and age is goddamn infuriating.
Abortion is no longer banned but there is currently no legislation regarding how far into a pregnancy one can be performed. We won't be seeing people getting abortions just yet, but they'll probably start early term abortions soon enough. The ones where you just need to take a pill and there's no procedure needed.
Aside from that I'm sure ministers have been working on legislation in preparation for this, so it shouldn't be too long before the groundwork what is allowed and what isn't goes through.
Holy fuck please tell me not all nuns are this fucking sadistic.
You should read about the Magdalene laundries.
Also I remember this story when it came out
http://www.bbc.com/news/magazine-15335899
Feels like Ireland is one of the only nations to have progressed in a positive direction this decade lol
A few countries also legalized gay marriage, so that's pretty cool.
Just looked to see if there were similar stories about this happening in Ireland. Found stories of over 60,000 forced adoptions/kidnappings, a mass grave of around 800 dead children, and a journalist who had the displeasure of witnessing both. Last time I checked, Jesus never said anything to imply that imprisoning unwed mothers in literal concentration camps was acceptable.
Lost all respect for nuns and religious institutions. GG.
Invoking the name of God to commit or justify your atrocities is the worst sin one could make against him.
Guess NI is the only country in the British Isles to go then...
NI isn't a country.
