I was wondering why there's a timer on the ability to demolish structures? It's kind of annoying if you're build a base and need to make additions later.
That's to prevent raiders or griefers who gained access to the permission cupboard to make the entire base collapse in a few seconds by destroying the foundations. I agree that there should be a way to be allowed to demolish again somehow though. It's really annoying.
Thats one of the reasons players go to modded, I dont understand why on vanilla the "original" builder should not be able to remove a wall they have placed and that anyone who raids and authorises a cupboard should be blocked from doing it. After all base plans change (or should be enabled to) and its a pain to remove wall manually and sometimes not feasible with c4
ye. the game came out of alpha. and the walls still have to be dismantled by c4
Get some pickaxes and mine the wall or plan out how you will build the base so you won't do mistakes that cost you explosives or resources in general
IF you actually read the post you would understand what the F*** we were talking about, Its what happens when you want to CHANGE your base design ! , Not when you make a mistake (though the same amount of wasted hours would still entail) , after all you plan the base in twig then when its right you upgrade it, And as a point of interest how long does it take you to take down a stone wall with pickaxes , you should try it out
plan ahead for where you will expand. Demo SHOULD NEVER BE A COMPONENT of the game past the limited function it has currently for the pure fact that players would just hide all of their loot behind walls. Ever wonder why you go raid a big base on a modded server with no loot in it? Well its because they have put their loot behind 4 walls inside the honeycombing... I Played a modded server maybe a year ago, left 1 small box in the middle with a note reading some trivial bs. Got raided 4 or 5 times, they never got anything besides the note.. Destroy/demo is WAYYY TOO OP to be added into the game past what it already is
My first base is always a 2x4 / 3x3 I stone it up fast as possible and just go wild farming, once i have a table and have learned some necessary weapons so I can defend myself I farm enough wood stone and fuel to trek to a perfect base spot. Then i build said base.
This could be avoided if the timer was longer. Maybe like a 2-3 hours decay time on a wall you demolish. If you were to obtain the TC and go through 3 walls with the demolish tool, it would take 6-9 hours to do then. Not worth.
What about giving the player who gave himself permissions over a TC the first time (The one who built it and placed it) the ability to knock walls off, only if they're stone or worse (You know, for that penalty) permanently?
Again...people would just hide their loot behind the walls which is very op. The demo is fine as is. Either pick out said walls or if they are metal, well blow them down or deal with it. Not sure about you but id rather have raids be worth than the ability to demo a few walls.
True... Well imagine it would cost something? Like if it was a stone wall it would cost half the amount or the exact same amount to destroy it. Or double. Probably still wouldn't fix the loot issue though... What if the person that dropped the TC first would get an item called "Jackhammer" and you can destroy walls with it, BUT, it degrades relatively fast (Imagine 5 uses and bam) and is insane to repair. Ok not insane but difficult. This way it would help with the mistakes and base expanding but you wouldn't be able to simply hide loot. Immersive? Nah... I just really wanted something like that (though I already use mod servers so lmao)
Yea ive thought of something like that. Jackhammer that is 1 time use, uses like 4 gears, 4 springs, 10 blades, 50hqm and consumes 500 low grade when used. Something along those lines id be ok with cuz then people would suffer if they want to hide loot behind walls. Could even make it where a player can only craft 1 per 24hrs aswell. just a thought
