hello everyone i just wanted to open this thread to express my disappointment!when i buy the rust 8 months ago it was awesome game and i have a lot of fun,and i was expecting to become better when it come in full release.. BUT I Was wrong!rust have become very boring, repeatable, and grind game without any concept!all you have to do is farm scraps build near the same rad towns propably near airfield, dome, millitary tunnels and launch site and after you grind scraps for 3-4 days (if you are solo you probably gonna grind for more if you have a life...) then you grind to gather sulfur to raid others and THATS IT. thats the game.. you use the 20% of map in every wipe dome, airfield, launch site and military tunnel do the same thing all over again and after 1 week if you gather the scraps for workbench 3 and sulfur you have 1 day to raid someone before wipe and all the servers die after 1 week so you play mostly alone...i know that the developers work hard for adding every month new things like swim suits and like that but many people dont even use that new things.. the optimization is still bad(fps drops)still many bugs like that bug when you hit a barrel with arrow the arrow stays there for ever.this game have this bug from the beginning and still no fix.and i don't want to talk about community of rust...ANYWAY i just wanted to express my feelings(i know you don't give a shit about my feelings) because i used to love this game but know i really tired of it! i hope the devs make this game kinda more fun give some concept and lowering the "grind".( and do something about "zergs"). mark my words i think GRIND is gonna kill this game soon or later.i wish good luck i know that i don't gonna miss to anyone so.. GOODBYE.OH and sorry for my grammar mistakes english is not my native language!
Not enough Spartans in my opinion.
haha actually in every wipe when i fresh start i was making a stone spear and i was killing others fresh starters with my stone spear.i felt like i was the leonidas (the king of spartans) so this is not the problem!do you disagree with me? do you think that i am expecting too much from the game that is on the market for 5years and cost 32$?
Yes, I need more Freedom in action. in choise. when the server is assigned. people still do. want to play on 120 virgin blogs. I remember 3 years ago I played. there was 60-70 if I'm not mistaken. and it was awesome. Yes, I do not argue at the moment, it is magnificent. many new things. just need in the old developments (60-120). It is necessary that someone has collected more information. probably will not play. if you do something differently. one must be assured of actions.
Isn't this is what every videogame is about at its core? maybe you've realized that gaming is not for you?
Every game has som "grind" (distraction) to get you to play it before you achieve the end goal, and then its "game over" (you beat it).
In Starcraft you "farm" a bunch of resources, build a base - and destroy your enemy's base (raid it) and GG
In Ark - dont even get me started, you can grind for 2 weeks before you can start raiding, but in Ark there is a lot of "hidden" distractions (also falsely referred to as "content") where you can tame and breed dinos - but the end game is the same - you raid some guys, and then your server dies.
In DOTA (and LoL) you play with a team of 5 to lvl up a bit and then you "raid" the opposite size of the map, and it "wipes" when you win. GG
In CSGO and other FPS - don't get me started here, you dont even need to do anything just grab a gun and kill some people, score some points and match is over and it "wipes" and you start all over with a new match...
Fortnite and PUBG - same story...30min match, and then it wipes....
Every videogame can be described like this
Survival = Grind
The problem is the type of grind. If you are slaving over just a few types of components then it does get monotonous.
For instance - to make a stone hatchet you only need wood and stone. Why don't you also require leather to attach the stone head to the handle?
For an auto turret you need a camera, targeting computer and HQM. You should also need metal fragments, gears, springs and an AK47 as a minimum. Not to forget a power source. Oh and wiring. Oh and programming skills.....
So AK47 (which should be impossible to make in your ting hut bamboo worktable) should also require more than 4 components to make. And maybe just maybe the right caliber ammunition as I can't seem to make 5.56 NATO ammo fit into my AK mag.....
I think if you fix the grind you will improve the game by delivering variety, more opportunities for trading, even adding values to areas that you live in. An area that produces good sand for say making armored building blocks might be deficient in wood. That makes for great trading.
So I say don't give up. If you are a Ruster at heart you will survive.
I dont believe it, You are complaining about the grind (oki get the drift) THEN you complain how easy it is to make higher tier tools and weapons. you also complain how easy it is to make a stone axe ! so you want the player who spawns to not only have to get more stone and wood to make an axe you want them to have to kill something first so they can get leather (which is not needed now) . You only want the grind on what ?
As for trading wtf , if you are a solo player with even one medium size group on the map (never mind the other solo') you dont want to place yourself in a position to lose everything by meeting for a trade, I dont know how many hundreds of times i have seen it come up in chat "hey ! anyone want to trade for weps (or something else) ?" and some fool always falls for it, goes there and gets killed and then they complains/leaves ,
The grind is in every game i have every played where you progress through weapons/equipment/skills you either put up with it and get on with the game or try some other game where you dont have to work so hard,
I know straight away someone will say "but you are so lazy you play on a modded server not a "real" server" but i probably have done more time on "real" servers in the past than they have so its a wasted comment,
And my rule number one is never build near a radtown/monument/road or spawn area , its far easier for someone to find your base and i would rather take an extra 5 minutes to walk to road etc
dude your argument is wrong. in dota or LoL you start "raiding" from the beggining. you start fighting from the start. you don't spend 6 days walking arround with a tool and grind the hell out of scraps and sulfur and then Raid. i have 600 hour in game and the 580 is farming and 20hours pvp. in dota in 1200 hours i have 1200 is "raiding with others" playing and enjoy the game and after 45 min it wipes.. and start over again with different champion and team. i dont waste DAYS farming so i could enjoy the game... i don't know maybe some people love to walking around and hitting ores with theirs tools for 120 hours and then IF they are lucky and don't get raid by"zergs" you can enjoy your 6 days farming for 10 min raiding...the same goes for pubg too. you start the game and you start playing and enjoy from the beggining.as for starcraft dude in startcraft farming is take about 8-10min no 6 days and you can't get raid and loose everything. one match last for 30-40 min and you enjoying the game all this time. this is not "grind".RUST IS "GRIND" beause you spend so much time on farming in order too enjoy the game.
OH and BY THE WAY the funny thing is when you make ak go for fight and one hacker with pythong headshot you out of no were and you loosing your ak which you spend so much time to craft and it takes only one hacker to loose it in 1 min.and then again go for farming HQM to make another one.. (this happen last time with me.)
completely agree stoboi. like I'm trying to tell.
oh and look how many videos are uploaded with hackers 1 month ago..
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kuRhy2rNdrQ
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_mkkQLW8Ut0
and still no FIX. so if you guys wanna spend your days farming for 6 days and one guy come and take all your work in 1 min enjoy playing this game. I'M OUT.
Survival = Grind...
and who can explain to me in detail what the word Grind means?
is it to suffer?
Hackers will be a problem for life, there will never be a "Fix" there's just no such thing. Sure, we can "suppress" the hackers a little, but they will always come back.
you completely missed my point. Its not about "6 days". The point is - you cant do it from the start. And you don't do it from the start in DOTA or LOL, not at lvl 1. You can maybe get some "sick plays" and get a FirstBlood at lvl 1 with a team, but thats bout it... in DOTA usually til minute 7-10 everyone is trying to farm (with a few exceptions).
The point is - every game has a grind. You too can make "sick plays" with a bow of spear in Rust and "raid" within 1-2 hours of wipe and "go deep" on someone... I was not taling about those rare moments. I was talking bout all games in general.
If in DOTA (or Starcraft) you farm for 6 min to then end the match (start the battle) that lasts 40min on avg = that is 15% of your playtime = GRIND.
In Rust, if you play for a month (monthly wipe = the length of your match), you can then farm for about 4-5 days to get your base ready, (same 15% of your "match playtime) and then from then on the real battle and raiding starts. Once your base is established = all you do is farm Sulfur and raid... same thing as other games.
Also in DOTA/LoL and StarCraft - you have to keep "farming" for the remainder of the match (except in some rare "sick plays" occasions) to keep gaining levels and building your items (or your base expansions).
Its the same freaking thing, only instead of 40min your match lasts a whole month, and instead of "6 min" startup time - you need to grind for 4-5 days before you are ready to attack... and then you just snowball...
Bye!! don't let the door hit ya on the way out! lol
I hear ya man. You should be able to hop on the forums and share your opinion without everyone telling you off. There are a lot more players that agree with you, however, they didn't care enough to come on here and put how they feel. They just left and didn't look back.
@captainrussia You gotta stop comparing the grind within the last 4 months. Most people are talking about the grind from how it was last year, or the year before that. They might have made scrap a little easier to get, but regardless, it's still too grindy. People complained when the XP system was too grindy, and although it was a little (they could have made minor changes to improve it), it is not nearly as grindy as it is now. I will not play this stupid scrap/blueprint system, and as I've stated in the past, I've quit Rust and don't play on returning unless they do something to change how grindy this game is. (I don't know why i'm still calling it a game, because it's a job)
The thing is, people who play on this game 8+ hours a day may think it's okay, because they are on long enough to get somewhere. But people who have 2-3 hours a day to play will always be at a disadvantage over those players. Go play games like CSGO, Battlefield, League of Legends... (list can go on) You aren't punished for lack of time put into the game. Sure, there's things in some of those games you can unlock faster if you play more than the casual player, but it doesn't put the casual player at a disadvantage.
This game is the complete opposite. If you are a casual player or a solo/small group, you are screwed unless you play on a modded server (which most players don't like to do).
sounds like you need to just step away for a few months bb
I actually haven't played in a while besides a wipe here and there. I've ran my own servers since September bb.
Cool ive done that too! isnt it easy
and are you sure? it really sounds like you are talking about Rust being stale
but people are right.
do you know why people are throwing a server?
it's like running. moving with one speed not to overtake the enemy.
running in front.
moving with one speed not to catch up with the fleeing enemy.
to catch up you need to have more speed.
so. people are so against. different systems of drawings.
the game is preemptive. that in it everything is different and incidental.
you do not when you do not know. that will happen.
knock the barrel. and do not know what will fall out of it.
I'm sure. that another approach is needed. to obtain weapons. or loot.
I mean it. why people did not like the xp system.
since loot emits. linear.
people want another option.
as if it was a robbery. reidt.
but if it's a novice. a rock. how he will get weapons.
it is waited by a long road. to scrap.
people maybe even I want an easy way.
if you agree with me. write.
if not. also write.
I want more communication. I want to help developers. game.
RU..
The arrow bug though, that does annoy me, but hey this isn't an airport you don't need to announce your departure, go with happiness bud. May you find a better game.
cya again when it's optimized <3
What really bugs me is the games customers get on their forums to express how they feel about the game, and then you got trolls that are only on here to poke fun at them. The professionalism of these forums is ridiculous. I mean I could be wrong, but if Rust somehow became dead, it would be these posts that really explain why. When players (people that actually play the game, not just giving it a test run or making/balancing the game) come on here to tell why they are leaving, and it's the same type of post over and over again, you'd think that would matter. Sure, if someone leaves due to lack of experience in the game, that's one thing, but I don't think that's the case. If everyone wants Rust to continue being a game players like playing, you should probably at least learn how to take some constructive criticism. I even see some admins on here acting unprofessional about it. Why would anyone want to play a game where people that representing the game act like their customers are cry babies and don't give two shits about how they feel. Probably the fastest way to lose customers. Just giving some advice, you can take it or leave it.
Yup, apparently Unclegemma explained to me that they treat "Facepunch Forums" (note - I said Facepunch, not Rust) like some kind of Reddit/4Chan clone - i.e a massive discussion board, with Rust just being a "tin subdivision" of it.
And all the forum MODs are apparently unpaid and are just volunteers. So obviously there is no quality control and no incentive to perform better, or to be professional. No one to pay you and no one to fire you.
The issue is kind of at its core: I come here expecting service for a paid product (like any other "official" videogame forums, DOTA, Blizzard, Eve Online, etc...), yet I get very poor unpaid service, because they are unpaid and treat this like a little side-project
