This is both a good and bad idea. Our understanding of genes do not yet allow us to determine, with certainty, that traits will be one way or the other. I fear that this will confuse us more than accomplish much, as if a criminal fits 3/4 criteria, but has brown instead of blue eyes, what do we do? The nature of dominant and recessive genes makes this extremely hard to decipher in a humanistic way.
It could be used to help narrow down suspects, then couldn't they just do a DNA match test?
Yes, it absolutely could, but my only fear is that it will result in more innocent people being added to the 'potentials' list, that's all. Presumably, once somebody's data is on the system, it's there forever?
Can't do that if you don't have the suspect
It doesn't really seem like our understanding of DNA's effect on appearance is quite there yet for this to be a good idea.
Should be noted that this is in Bavaria only, they have introduced a ton of pretty questionable police laws.

It does not count for all of Germany, although that doesn't really make it that much better.
Even the DNA gets in trouble.
Okay, I am going to stop quoting that silly set of memes now, but they always make me euphoric.
Probably more reliable than witness testimony
