PD: are these kind of short, twitch clip videos allowed on this section? Rarely see people posting them so i don't know.
I don't watch destiny like that but I can't tell if he agrees or dislikes h3h3
Err, did you hear the last few seconds.
I mean he doesn't /hate/ him, just dislikes his reactionary views.
you don't really have to pick sides to know that Destiny is just as guilty of being super predictable
he's also kind of a terrible person which makes him a bit worse
I guess I just don't understand how "the media is corrupt" stance falls under the "reactionary anti sjw commentary that falls in line with every other fuckin gamer bro" category. If that's not sarcasm and is genuinely what destiny thinks of that opinion of the media then boy howdy.
It's a little more nuanced than what's in the 30 second clip.
Destiny hates anything or anyone that doesn't fall in line with the party politics.
Yeah, he's actually a pretty seriously terrible person last I recall.
Imagine being a grown man and using the term SJW.
Like holy fuck
I tend to ignore anything regarding Destiny after he said animators don't deserve money because they're just drawing
So you aren't ignoring him?
Not sure why that was worth posting tho
Because this is a thread about something he said and people are posting what they think about him?
This guy is awful, holy cow
You missed my point
i remember when Destiny was hella ~problematic~, when did that change?

I remember Destiny making some rather silly claims (like animators making 250k a year on youtube) but I don't remember him ever claiming they don't deserve money for their work.
I may be wrong on that, but given Psychicpebbles was digging up stuff on him, such as his friend that commit suicide, he was pretty damn stressed out.
Not to mention the guy ruined jontron's career.
Oh right! My bad, I forgot exactly what it was - he was basically making ridiculous claims about animators that made no sense considering you could research the numbers yourself.
No... Jon did that himself. Nothing prompted him to say shit like how he had genuine fears that minorities would enter the gene pool
To be exact he specifically made the 250k a year claim about psychicpebbles, not animators in general.
For the claim itself eh, I dunno, completely depends on how people are monetizing their shit. Psychicpebbles probably isn't making that but is probably pretty happy with what he's doing even if he could reach that.
I don't think anyone claimed he was bad. But when it comes to politics he is fairly predictable and acts much like dave rubin in certain ways.
what does this even mean, do you think there are lots of kids going around using sjw? who do you think uses the term
I mean the saddest thing about that stream I remember was JonTron being offered a way out several times when destiny restated and asked JonTron if he really believed what he said. That was prime time to back out, but he used it to dig his hole further.
Though JonTron's career is fine, he's lost a lot of collaboration and business opportunities but he still has a big audience.
Have a source on this? I never really watch or care for destiny but I always hear people call him out of things that aren't true/out of context, particularly with the whole jontron thing
It's an embarrassing term that makes you look like a complete dickhead. Like, it's fucking meaningless and only serves to label people who disagree with you, but have no actual basis to why. It comes off as immature and pathetic
it didn't
He got the number based on other youtubers with around 900k subscribers, but didn't take into account at all the fact that animators only upload 2-3 minute videos on an irregular basis. It wasn't the best researched claim, but to his credit, he later clarified saying otherwise. The whole thing stemmed from an argument on blue-collar workers, and had nothing to do with animation in the first place.
Other people might have different things to fault him for, but imo he's always been guilty of attacking a totem of "SJWs" that doesn't really exist. He finds complete idiots and calls them out, which is fine, most of them do deserve it, but in his commentary he conflates them with some kind of unified and dangerous SJW movement that really does not exist. Anti-SJW people as a group are guilty of this, imo, and they really rub me the wrong way because anti-SJWism can convince apathetic moderates that any kind of progressivism is bad. I kind of have a personal stake in it, so my perspective is not crystal-clear, but that's how I see it.
I'm also left with a little bit of a bitter taste in my mouth because I still enjoy his older content. It's a format he abandoned and never really returned to.
To be perfectly honest, if he changed up his content and behavior a bit, I'd watch him regularly. I find his persona and mannerisms very appealing.
To be fair, most successful animators don't just do the 2-3 minute videos every 6 ± 5 months. Most do other content that is cheaper in time to make, like Psychicpebbles has done podcasts, egoraptor has game grumps and voice acting, etc..
Although even with that, yeah, it's pretty foolhardy to make guesses of income just based on sub counts. That stuff can vary wildly even from aspects invisible to creators (e.g. their demographics.)
