Youtube fucking with the subscriptions feed sounds terrible.
I think there is a need for something like this, I'm subscribed to like 200 people, and I'd like it if people who made videos less often didn't get buried. But there should always be the option to see everything from your subscriptions in chronological order.
If they made looking at your notifications better it would probably be enough.
If there was less people that reacted off the headlines of things and actually dove into the content of the subject, the world would absolutely be a better place.

I'm honestly not surprised. The feed has been knackered for a good while, showing new videos from subbed channels up to a day late. It's just frustrating how YouTube keeps making things work and then breaks them because of some numbers bullshit.
YouTube actually has decent reasons to do it, the problem is that they fuck it up pretty hard.
The issue they're trying to solve is people subscribed to hundreds of channels and never clicking anything in their sub feed or ever watching those channels, which hurts site engagement and revenue.
Although yeah as I said, they fuck it up hard. For one, channels that don't upload much get hurt pretty hard, and it occasionally just acts strange and doesn't show people videos even for channels they engage in. At the very least YouTube should probably make the sub-feed two tabs, "curated" and "un-curated," where the former is the subfeed ran through their algos, and the latter will just be a pure "here's everything everyone you've subbed to has uploaded sorted from newest to oldest."
Just don't fuck with the one feature that his stood reliable when everything else was going wrong around it, how simple is that to do? If you want to create a recommended sub videos column or something, do it so it doesn't fuck up the only system that allows me to reliably check my subscribed channels for videos. I get their intentions, but fucking up the only reliable source of subbed channel's videos is only going to make matters worse.
So yeah, I agree with you. If they are going to implement a feature like this, do it in a separate bar or tab so it keeps things the way they were for people who prefer the chronological method.

Yeah he quit being like that nearly a year ago.
Honestly he began winding it down years ago.
His content is still generally pretty low-effort but it's not really awful anymore.
