Of Course There's A Game With A Mass School Shooting In It On Steam (Sterling)

Let it come out and let the market decide if they want it or not
I'm not sure I necessarily agree that it's a threat to the games industry at large, it just makes Steam curation 'system' look like even more of a joke for what it will and won't take down.
And if fools are willing to shell out money on a game so obviously trying to exploit controversy then so be it.
An asymmetrical game based around one active shooter versus a team of cops actually sounds pretty cool. Innately and horrifyingly tasteless, but pretty cool nonetheless. I'd definitely play it
if it was either hyper-tactical like SWAT 4 or super over-the-top like Postal 2, but probably not if it was just a generic shooter like this game seems to be.
The more attention this gets the more chance for games do get heavily regulated, and this time we cant make another ESRB to protect the medium.
It will stay on Steam Direct even if people don't buy it
and its free to stay there as long as no rules are being explicitly broken, the market will have made their decision
The subject matter is bad sure, but can we acknowledge just how shit the game looks like? It's like whoever made this just bought or stole some shitty unity assets and put the game together in a week.
yeah those are dubbed "asset flips". They are a threat to Steam and Jimmy right here has been berating them for years now.
You are completely missing the point of this, though. This has nothing to do with the free market
Yeah, and Payday 2 is the cause for all the bank robberies and cop killings... Seriously this game is made by some meme lord who pumps out sub 3 dollar games with zero effort or quality, who cares? The real problem here is that anyone can upload just about anything to steam and have a chance of slipping through the cracks.
You mean the same market that decided it was okay for Steam to be riddled with absolute dogshit so long as they could make a couple bucks off trading cards ?
This isn't how any actual store works.
You want your customers to expect a basic level of quality when buying from you. Otherwise your image gets tarnished and you get hurt (e.g. a lot of dead dept stores like Ames gained this rep before dying.)
They were fucking RIGHT. Hatred was the precursor to all of this violence...

we need Hatred 2
But gods forbid there ever be a single anime tiddie
If he has such an issue with a game like this getting exposure, why did he make a video about it? Now 140k viewers now know, i feel like the dev of this game knew what would happen and now everyone is playing into their hands. I get the critique of valves system, they do allow a lot of shit games to be put on the marketplace. But that is the thing...what i think of a game is completely my opinion. This game may appeal to some people for whatever reason, I personally don't care nor do I have a stake in it. But, i disagree with things being removed for the sake of protecting peoples feelings. We had games that were based on JFK assassination, VT shooter. So if we were going to draw the line it should have been drawn long ago.
Is the game he posted done is poor taste? Sure, but it is so poorly done you cannot take it seriously.
It showed up on my local news.
Link to article?
It was just on TV, they had a screencap from a SidAlpha video up. Actual segment is going to air within the hour.
That's pretty much Evolve
Man I can't fucking stand Jim Sterling
