There's this TF2 playermodel I know of which is the zombie spy but uses animations of the northrend geist from World of Warcraft. Is there any way I can do something like that?
You can use Motionbuilder to do this quite easily.

Basically, you take the rig for the animations you want to port over, assign the bones to a 'character', then do the same for the rig you want to transfer the animation to, and what happens is the rig you want to transfer to becomes a puppet of the rig you want to transfer animations from.
Then you bake the animation to the playermodel rig and you get animations that are now usable with a player model.
