My problem with the Future games (well, Crack in Time and Tools) are twofold I didn't know they were continuations of the PS2 games and assumed they are their own chronology. This is my bad, as somehow the plotpoint of accidently warping to a different galaxy slipped past me I don't like the overattention of platforming over shooting. UYA and GC (especially GC) had the perfect balance. Deadlocked was a bit too hard on the shooty direction and feels like a proto-Shadow the Hegehog with it's focus on a darker atmosphere but... well, I didn't hate it and actually rather enjoyed it. Angela Cross really is a huge plothole though...
The time trilogy was just a mess of mechanics and your typical "throw money at it til works" series. With the new schedule they didn't have time to do all the mountains of research they did for the first set of games to find why all these things made players happy, cause they were too busy adding unnecessary graphical bling to everything.
Aside from playing some R:G as a kid, the 3 ps3 games were the only ones Ive ever played, and I remember enjoying them quite well. I just always found the stories to be a little... confusing.
