you can roll your balls around and they like it
this is gonna explode
That slam from outer space with Magikarp
to be clear this is not the main line switch RPG title
I actually want to play this, too bad I don't own a switch. Well, I have between now and "November 16, 2018" to get one. I really hope that it progresses similarly to the mainline pokemon games (gym badges and metroidvaina backtracking, and lots of battling)
It is for this year, but there's another one coming next year that's more like the other ones. This is 'for everyone', meaning they're going for the pokemon go audience who would have never considered buying a switch otherwise.
HAHAHAHAHA They fuckin' replaced wild battles with the Pokemon Go system of catching shit
hold my baby, dad needs to play this
SO basically Pokemon Go that doesn't suck.

It'll probably be the button mashing battles from GO
If nothing else, I appreciate that nintendo didn't waste time in their E3 presentation with this shit, and they've made it clear at the outset that this game isn't intended for us. Still, it's unfortunate that they're wasting resources on a game that is likely going to perform well below expectations, when they could have had the entirety of Gamefreak working on the core RPG instead.
I'm gonna miss the days where you could play Pokemon with a dpad and two buttons. I mean the new features are cool and all but I'm not really a fan of motion controls.
you can see in the trailer that the pokemon have the traditional four skills
This is literally Pokemon GO: Kanto Tour Edition with trainer battles. Presumably if you just want to catch Pokemon and coast along, then I guess that's for you. But if you're interested in the battling and the more intricate factors of gameplay, then this isn't for you.
IIRC in Go you have two skills. One if you tap the screen and one if you hold a touch.
Are you kidding, this game will hold your hand so hard that there'll be rails spontaneously generated each step
you're right, there is a 99.99999% of that happening. I have no hopes that this will actually be fun past the first hour (if we're lucky)
What really gets me is that it's the Kanto region, but despite the HD facelift that does actually look good, it seems to be nothing more than a blocky copypaste that still adheres to grid design like the older games. But there's no grid movement, and Sun & Moon took great steps in trying to make the world seem a lot more naturally designed rather than cube houses and square mountains everywhere.
this is so weird, pokemon go almost has it's own distinct style compared to the mainline pokemon games and this new game looks to tread the line between pokemon go and the mainline titles. like, the trailer is chock full of shots of pokemon go style capturing and AR integration, yet the best and most promising shots are the ones that looks like it's just a regular ol' pokemon game. it makes me wonder why we needed to take a moment to allow for a pokemon go-centric console title. why couldn't half of these features just be implemented onto the next actual mainline title, and make both segments of fans happy?
Because GO targets mostly casual players and thus some mechanics in Let's Go have been simplified. It also promotes being active thus all the AR and motion controls. The upcoming core title has certain standards that need to be met for the competitive scene and that's probably why they decided to separate it from the GO scene. Usually trying to please two different audiences in a single game turns into a mess really easily.
I don't like GO but I'm cautiously optimistic. I probably wouldn't buy a switch just for this game based on what was shown, but since I already have one I'll probably be checking it out.
OOOF, going to be a long years wait for the real release.
Interesting choice to base a game on a mobile game most people forgot about.
Most people definitely did not forget about it. Its still very popular. Strangely, it has a lot of popularity with middle-aged adults.
I would assume that is the average age of pokemon fans these days.
This is worse than I could have imagined. From what information I've gathered, Wild Battles are no longer a thing, and the dex is region-locked to Kanto only with some minor exceptions. You can bet the Game Corner won't be in Celadon anymore because gambling in children's games can't really be included anymore. I'm willing to wager that the Sevii Islands won't be here either, too many Gen 2/3 Pokemon there. From what the gameplay that's been shown indicates, to me at least, Pokemon GO stuff isn't really avoidable so I can't opt out of it, and in the end I'm just playing through the same region and same story I've played many times already. At this point FR/LG, a game released 14 years ago, has more fucking content than this. Hardest pass I'll ever give. I expected nothing and I'm still disappointed.
I'm talking like late 30s and in to their 40s. Pokemon fans who were the intended age are late 20s.
