Berlin immigration authorities enabled years’ long fraud
Can approved asylum requests be nullified after the fact, or rendered invalid in such cases, in Germany? Never had to deal with that stuff before I left.
Nullified? And maybe possibly leaving the country because of that? LOL
Not in Germany.
Looks like it. They're currently reprocessing thousands of applications (though it seems possibly not all of them).
It should also be noted that asylum isn't a permanent status in Germany.
It's re-evaluated after a few years, and people who don't integrate well enough can't get residency permits.
The latter are not limited in terms of time and permit regular employment afaict, though they can still become void if someone leaves for too long or leaves without prior permit.
They can also still be revoked if any irregularities regarding their issuance are determined, explicitly including fraud, threats and bribery.
TLDR: Yes.
