So if AT&T buys Time Warner, Comcast might try to buy Fox, which is currently being bought by Disney and trying to buy Sky
It's the year of media consolidation
I for one welcome our media hypersaturation overlords, and imagine it will take far less time to reach saturation and fatigue than it did in the late 90s when Disney forgot how to diversify and innovate.
Why anyone thinking five(four) companies should manage almost 100% of video entertainment content creation is a good idea is beyond me.
Was the Comcast pure cash offer declined?
Well the less there are, the sooner they can dispense with the pretense of the MPAA/RIAA and just come out and say that they directly own us all now.
holy god please no
Murdoch doesn't want to go with Comcast though. The disney deal is far more valuable long-term in his eyes. He's basically being pitted against his shareholders, who just want the truckloads of cash.
Why dose FOX want to seal there shit in the first place? Do they realized that they are like... the 4th biggest media studio out there?
They're not "selling" their properties, it's a merger where they would join most of their assets with Disney's and spin some other properties (mostly their TV networks) off. By losing some independence to join forces with Disney or Comcast, they'd move from being the 4th biggest conglomerate to having stakes in what will likely become the biggest.
Okay... But why FOX wants to merger? especially since they hold some much value and proprieties?
we're all owned by a mouse
