Valve does this too with the Steam Translation Service. Was some controversy a few years ago about how the Valve person in charge of it, Torsten something, is a huge asshole.
I'm reminded of the pirate language debacle.
Pirate debacle? TF2 has a pirate language which you can't use, really outdated. Though it seems to be a test thing for the TF team, gets some random updates. Pirate is also still an option for the STS.
That's what I mean. It started out as people spying on TF2 updates, got a lot of steam with it (I was in on it with several others, even got started on the Dota 2 stuff). All while being constantly
told that pirate could possibly be made serious. It was a couple of years later when he informed us it was meant to be a test bed for newer translators to see how stuff works and it wasn't
supposed to get to where it was then. It kinda took the wind from our sails and the project was primarily dropped on its head.
Didn't Mojang use the community to translate Minecraft into "Canadian English"
if you can get an intern to do it for free, why pay anybody?
I work as Social Media Support for a tech company.
🤞
This shouldn't be an option
Spend a dollar to save a dime, I can only imagine that the quality of service is going to plummet as a result. I'm actually not sure if that will cost them sales, but it certainly won't do anything positive for PR.
As if Xbox Support wasn't bad enough already.
Is it just me or do the majority of "volunteer support/expert/mod" people power trip like crazy and have god complexes
Nah, I got very quick and professional help last week from Xbox community manager suckmydick69
I know this is just one symptom of a crumbling economy, but that alone makes me ponder what kind of work will land you a minimum wage paycheck in the future.
Schlepping protein overflow out of the KremzoCorp Feed-O-Rators, or swabbing cum out of the VR brothel booths.
Don't give them any ideas. They have an excellent bot framework for .NET already.

When you're not paid in money, you'll only interest people who extract value from power.
Volunteer support staff is always a mess, and should be avoid if at all possible.
Honestly the biggest issue is why the fuck can some random asshole with no background check access confidential information about my account?
Until they become the same thing
Hey come on Steve Asshole is a very nice guy. He's the best support volunteer I have seen
