I remember back then everyone seemed to hate Crysis. I was barely able to play it on low settings and enjoyed it a lot, but every time I mentioned Crysis, everyone would just start shitting all over the game. IMO Crysis is one of the most underrated games ever.
I was never really able to run it but i did mess about in the sandbox editor 24/7, that thing was the shit.
There were a lot of people who got swept up in the performance and visuals focus who just missed the gameplay.
I remember spending hours just destroying that little house by the ocean with that radio jammer. Not enough games have environmental destruction on the level the first game had, even if it was limited.
I really, really enjoyed like, the first 1/3 or 1/2 of the game It felt like it got really boring or something fast towards the last half of the game I really loved the multiplayer though Using the freeze-ray and punching people was great
I used to use the editor to spawn hundreds of tracks on the top of a mountain and sit at the bottom, trying to dodge them all. Crysis' editor was great as you could just drop into the map you had created as soon as you'd made a change. I definitely enjoyed the game a lot overall, although I agree that when you stop fighting North Koreans, it gets a fair amount less interesting.
I've had some of the most unforgettable experience with Crysis's multiplayer, like the one time where I was getting so many kills from sniping people at the research facility from a mountain nearby, and after a while I heard the sound of some guy moving nearby so I switch to the cloak mode. It turns out the dude actually bought the radar thing from the research and went to search for me on the mountain, and I was sitting in the bush right next to him, cloaked. At the end I just switched to power mode and punched the shit out of him. Crysis's multiplayer was just incredible with all things you can do, and all the special gadgets you can use. Meanwhile the day/night cycle also makes the map a lot more interesting and some areas really looks stunning at night.
MP seemed to have huge potential. Shame I never got to experience it with people Didn't it have massive maps with vehicles and mp-exclusive weapons and shit?
There's a MP mode about capture alien research facility to build up points toward a nuclear tank/nuclear rocket launcher when you use to destroy the enemy's base with. IIRC you need to hits with the nuclear weapon to win the game.
