PSN User Banned For Claiming His Dad Works For Sony
Sony Permanently Bans PSN User for Using Popular Xbox 360 Meme |..
If there is one thing Sony cannot abide, it is claiming to have affiliation with Sony when that simply isn’t true. As reported by SegementNext, when one PSN user claimed his “dad works at Sony,” he received a stern email from Sony explaining that making such claims is against the PlayStation Network code of conduct. PSN user Hamad Jalalie was playing Fortnite when he received an angry message from another player accusing him of hacking. After some back and forth and the second player threatening to report Jalalie directly to Epic, Jalalie sent the fated message that would get him banned.
If you scroll down in the first link, you'll see what the person that got banned said:

This is such an old meme, how the fuck can you even think it's serious lmao
My dad works for facepunch
You say that now but in some years this is actually going to be a thing someone can say and be 100% real
Maybe he got banned by here_2_annoy_all's dad, who happens to work at Sony.
You know, as a way to make the joke even better.
Sony is a shit service. Whenever I boot up the old ps4 and want to do anything on it I always remember why I never use it in the first place.
Also if he is just playing Fortnite can't he just make a new account?
My dad is Garry
Makes sense to punish fakers, but you'd think context would be worth a damn. Is this a British court?
my son is garry
I'm Garry's dad
I am Garry.
when my uncle isnt working for nintento he works for the nsa part-time. y'all better rate this post or yer passwords are gonna get leaked
Should've replied with gorilla warfare instead
Jokes aside, permanently banning an account for something like this is a bit overkill. You'd think they'd have some sort of manual look at the situation and context before handing out something as harsh as a perma-ban, because while I can understand disallowing impersonation of SIE staff ("my dad works at sony give me your log-in info or I'll get you banned" or some shit like that) you need to at least have some restraint. This wouldn't be a problem if they manually overlooked it, saw the context, and then sent him an email warning him to not do that or he will risk having his account suspended.
Sony has had this problem for ages with their support staff being unable to undo shit once it's happened and you just being shit out of luck ("Oh false charges to your account? Someone that wasn't you spent $100 on games and VBucks? Sorry can't do anything, also don't chargeback or we'll ban your account.") PSN is so behind the times with it's infrastructure, I dread the day I have any issues with it so I've never bought shit digitally on it and don't keep my card saved on it just in case.
Tbh it seems to be a running theme with Japanese companies and online services being kinda shitty. Sony have had a fairly awful history of the PSN just being a bit unstable during the PS3 days, and their support being awful every time that the PSN wasn't down.
my dad works for the biggest underground hacking network in Russia, you don't fuck with me kid
Its gonna be awesome to see Garry's son banning people because "He's the goddamn Newman" *disconnects away*
Rules are rules but I'm surprised it's a perma. They should have recognized the meme and given him a slap on the wrist at most tbh
This is so sad.
Can we implement a law that defines overachieving as a form of bullying?
