Coal is a fools errand
outdated garbage hey thats your president youre talking about
Nuclear still shows a lot of promise, but coal... not so much.
tbh it wouldn't surprise me if Trump has the "NUCLEAR IS EVIL" mindset. And is wanting to improve nuclear cause he thinks it'll fuck people over even though its considered to be a very clean/very efficient energy source if handled correctly.
I remember someone here voted for Trump just because he supposedly had the "Nuclear is the future" mindset, which he never did lol.
Clinton actually said she'd support advanced nuclear technologies in her position statement. It's interesting given her husband gutted nuclear research in the 90s.
Because, believe it or not, Clinton isn't the evil corporate shill that lots of people here like to make her out to be.
Hope all the Americans here enjoy the higher electricity bills we will have to pay for this. It's baffling that anyone would believe that losing coal power plants is a national security concern. You can build a new coal plant and have it operating within a few months, if there was ever a problem you'd see it coming far in advance to keep energy flowing in the country. This is just to enrich the dumb asshats who are clinging on to owning those, now, unprofitable plants.
Being slightly less evil than Trump doesn't means she's not an evil corporate shill.
Supporting nuclear power is supposed to prove that?
Her platform was more progressive than Obama's. Clinton is far from perfect but the 20 years of propoganda baggage has weighed down on her immensely to the point it's hard to talk about her even with like minded people without "CROOKED HILLARY". The only reason she was a bad choice was because of this propoganda campaign that spanned decades, not because she was actually bad.
I wouldnt call her evil, but you are joking if you dont think she was completely bought out. Just look at her campaign contributions. the problem was people had a choice between "run of the mill corrupt politician" and "negative IQ corrupt moron" and they went for the stale cheeto thinking that it would go "better"
only if you're forgetting everything about the bernie sanders fiasco
Drop coal and put coal's aid towards nuclear and you've got a good.
Nuclear, sure. Coal, piss off.
So, Trump, the great negotiator and the one who was going to help Republicans push their hands-off free market policy... is interfering with the market and selectively helping coal-fired plants owned by friends of his. And he's also screwing with tariffs and starting trade wars. And that's not even touching his international deals, like ZTE getting breaks while Ivanka simultaneously gets a whole raft of trademarks approved in China. https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/economy/from-electricity-to-steel-trump-becoming-increasingly-active-in-trying-to-shape-the-economy/2018/06/01/c1a0692c-65b3-11e8-a69c-b944de66d9e7_story.html I wish I could ask FP's diehard Trump supporters if they're happy but most've already gotten themselves perma'd.
Fret not, friend. I'm sure they have alts lurking somewhere.
Actually, I'm sure there's quite a few still around, it's just that they all know on some subconscious level that all the carefully constructed cognitive dissonance and compartmentalization needed to maintain their beliefs would be like a snowball in a blast furnace in any environment where you're expected to provide more than memes and ">implying."
She's also not her husband from 20 years in the past.
How is Trump "the devil you know" The only thing you know is that Trump is going to be terrible, there's no way to predict how terrible, or how effectively terrible The worst Hillary could have done is not be quite as progressive as she pretended to The worst Trump can to is capture every single regulatory agency the government has (which he's in the process of doing) and dismantle our entire democracy, and destroy our economy and foreign policy. How the FUCK is Trump a better choice?
I get the feeling that all or most of Trump's FP supporters who had really nonsensical reasons for supporting him over Hillary (Nuclear, guns) actually liked the guy for those of his ideals that would not be socially acceptable for them to admit.
Some of the attempts to whitewash Clinton are over the top but this absolutely jumps the shark. Clinton's (and the Democrats platform) prior to and during the election were anything but smoke and mirrors. She was your typical centrist Democrat who borrowed some progressive policies to shore up the more left-leaning members of her party and those independents who found Obama's quest for compromise as frustrating. There are plenty of criticisms to be had about Clinton; "smoke and mirrors" is not one of them. Contrast this with Trump, either campaign Trump or President Trump, and it's the exact opposite: constant unpredictable actions and statements that translate to unsteady and disorganized governance, with a State Department that is in shambles and staff coming in and out like a revolving door. It's fucking bewildering that 18 months into this thing you have people who still believe Trump was a better choice than Clinton. How much more dysfunctional do you see Hillary's America being?
Go back and read the beginning of the sentence you quoted
Its not a valid concern. They invented the term "fuel secure" just to justify all of this, and the quasi government regulatory board soundly rejected that whole premise, yet here we are 6 months later and they're using it as a justification. This winter was colder and longer than the 2013 winter yet grid resilliance and reliability were rock solid
Trump probably watched an episode of Game of Thrones and thought it was all really happening.
"Cmon guys stop fooling around... Coal isn't so bad!"
On the other hand, permanent damage has already been done to the integrity of American democracy and American foreign policy. Who would ever trust the USA again in negotiating deals? Trump has proven that in as little as four years, the American people might elect another obstructionist buffoon who can only run at things and knock them over. And that's only discussing foreign policy. The EPA has been under sustained attack from conservatives for years, and it's now been chaired by someone intent on dismantling it. Enforcement actions under the EPA have dropped off like a rock, and the consequences of the lack of enforcement of environmental protection laws will not go away on their own. The same can be said with the gutting of rules preventing risky financial activity and the effective neutering of the consumer watchdog agency by one of the very bankers it once sought to regulate. With the efforts to destabilize the ACA and make it fail, since they legislatively failed at removing it, the Trump administration is taking money from sick people (by causing their premiums to go up), and people will die from being unable to obtain care. The damage to American institutions is credible and considerable and the damage done to the trust of Americans and international institutions is permanent. Only if they're living outside of the Fox News cult bubble. Trump's approval rating has not dropped below 30%, nor has it gone much higher than 40% once it sunk below there. Anyone who had buyer's remorse for voting Trump has already done so and everyone who's left is in a cult of personality where they defend Trump no matter what. "Most" of Trump's voters don't seem to regret their choice, seeing as Trump's approval isn't at 10% instead. I mean, they were right about that, but not in the way they were hoping for.
So in other words, Hilary is the devil you know.
