Ultimately, Trump’s lawyers argued that the president should not be compelled to sit for an interview to assist Mueller’s effort, arguing that the White House provided full access to documents and interviews with other senior staff that was sufficient to answer Mueller’s questions about the Trump’s actions. “The President’s prime function as the Chief Executive ought not be hampered by requests for interview. Having him testify demeans the Office of the President before the world,” they wrote. Uh guys, have you seen what the President tweets?? Trump's lawyers claim he shouldn't have to talk to Mueller, he can terminate the Mueller investigation directly, and he can't possibly have committed obstruction. America didn't accept it when Nixon said all this shit, either. Oh, and in related news, Giuliani's off on his japes again, this time trying to dictate inappropriate concessions from the DOJ in order to access the President: https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/giuliani-says-trump-wont-sit-for-mueller-interview-unless-all-spygate-documents-can-be-reviewed/2018/05/29/38abc456-6372-11e8-a768-ed043e33f1dc_story.html One more thing to add to the pattern of obstruction of justice.
Trump's lawyer also that his dad own Xbox.com and will get Mueller banned from xbox live.
sounds like bullshit
If this theory ends up facing the courts, it's going to get demolished US. v Nixon style
"If the president does it, it's not illegal."
"Well you see your honor I did your mom last night"
You know he's bluffing because otherwise he'd have tried to abuse it several times over
So he's also challenging a subpeona by citing the expanded powers of the presidency, holy crud. I swear, I know the chances are ridiculously low to evolve as far as my mind went with it, but if Trump was the one who got presidential powers crushed down to constitutionally-explicit levels, I would sell my car for hotdogs and hand them out to every passerby for free with a smile for how crazy this shaz has gotten.
Sounds like facism to me.
His is the only face that matters type of deal.
Too bad Trump's lawyer didn't claim that his dad worked at Sony otherwise Sony would bring down the banhammer.
If this was true, then all it proves to me is that the God-king needs to be ripped down from his throne of lies and thrown in a cell.
"When a president does it, its not illegal." looks like they're going to redo watergate, for worse this time.
If Trump truly controlled the DOJ, he would have tried to get false charges on Obama or Hillary already
No doubt, but it would buy Trump time to continue assaulting the foundations of the federal law enforcement system and propagandizing to the public via Fox News about how this investigation is a partisan witch hunt. Always, over three quarters of polled Republicans believe that Mueller's team is politically motivated. Given that the general understanding is that a sitting president cannot be indicted, the exit strategy of this is convincing enough of the public to turn against this investigation that Congress refusing to impeach isn't political suicide. The question of whether or not a sitting president can be subpoenaed, if brought to the Supreme Court, may also have to determine with certainty whether a sitting president can be indicted, charged, and arrested, thus bypassing a complicit Congress.
If Trump truly controlled the DOJ, y'all would be in labor camps already in a fascist state.
This is the sick irony / hypocrisy of Trump's perspective. He believes that the DOJ should be a tool for the president to harm his enemies and reward his friends -- a political cudgel used to crush resistance and praise loyalty. Clearly, it is not, but the sick "genius" behind the lies being told by Trump and reinforced by GOP propaganda networks is that it is convincing his base that it has been, and thus should continue to be -- but only by Trump. It's projection of the worst possible type: The DOJ should be obeying my commands to punish my enemies and reward my friends, but instead it's still loyal to the Obama administration!
