Honestly I don't see anything wrong with that. Ramadan gives anyone who isn't Muslim a distinct advantage in competitive sports, since Muslims aren't allowed to even drink water until sundown. Being a very Orthodox faith, you don't find nearly as many people willing to break the rules as you do when you talk about Catholics and Protestants.
They do gimp themselves, but it's hard to fault them for following the rules of their faith. If, when the time for them to break their fast finally arrives, they stage a small impromptu time out so they can get some food and water in them for the first time that day, it'd be downright unsporting to take issue with that.
Mate if going down and faking an injury in football wasn't allowed, everyone would be banned from playing it. Footballers are literally made of glass if you go by their own perception.
My favourite is when they get bumped into and hold a limb that didn't get hit
*gets lightly bumped in the shoulder, collapses and starts hugging their foot.
don't forget the faces
the "game over I'm collapsing and my leg has been QUITE LITERALY destroyed" face
I don't think it's fair to say they're gimping themselves. They probably don't feel like they have a choice.
No, rated matches are specifically for faking injuries in the hopes that the ref will yellow card the other team.
Why can't these games just be set past sunset, after players have had a time to break their fast?
Money
If they feign frivolously, they can easily by carded for simulation.
It's almost like a formality at this point. "Ok, we'll stop the game so they can eat, as long as somebody pretends to be injured."
I dono, never seemed hard to me
The world cup is this month, get ready for it on an international level
Can you give a bit more of an explanation? I'm sure they'll sell just as many tickets?
Non-American Football is weird.
American football barely involves feet, and does not at all involve a ball.
FA will be introducing retrospective bans for diving from next season in English football. Hopefully the same rule will be applied to all football in the future.
It's really unprofessional and ruins the game.
