I was playing rust last week and everything was fine. I quit and started playing csgo, then came back and my cpu usage shot up to averaging about 85 with a total usage at about 90-100%. What do i have to do to get my cpu usage to go back down?

The problem is usually running something in the background thats resource heavy.
The other issue here that i can see is that 8GB of ram kinda sucks. You should really upgrade to 16GB.
Oh and if you say you "quit rust" do you mean that you just leave it in the lobby or do you shut rust down? If its in the lobby so it doesnt take long to start playing it again then it will use more resources.
Don't have Google Chrome open while playing games.
Actually, don't have Chrome open ever. (Unless you're using it, of course.)
I used to run rust just fine up until about a week ago. I did shut down rust to where it isnt running and then started another game. Then quit that game and opened rust again. I know it isnt anything that i did because i was running just fine with about 50 fps and no high cpu usage.
Yea, i never have chrome open because it makes me drop frames.
Then why is it open in your processes?
Get a better browser if Chrome is always open in the background. Use something like Firefox or Opera
16GB of memory is optimal for Rust. 8GB is the very minimum, considering the game can use anywhere from 5 to 7GB+. Restart your computer and kill everything that isn't Rust or essential when playing, only thing you can really do. Or just spend like $60 and double your memory.
My game was working fine then it just started maxing out the cpu. I just quit rust then played a game of csgo then got back on rust and it just messed up.
Amd xD. Rust is not optimized for amd
Last week i was playing rust just fine then loaded it back up and it was started using most of my cpu. I did nothing else to change anything.
