Stop complaining for a second and look at this. New Rust SDK and community maps support are coming in this patch, holy shit. I wonder how long it will take to remake a Legacy map?
I've been waiting for this. Rust has a huge potential for mapping, I'm hoping we can get something really nice going.
You get exactly that with Rust io plugin which has been around for four years
@Thraag1 I'm a little confused. Isn't community maps about designing maps?
The rust.io is just a faster way to check out different seeds for procgen.
I have seen no actual reference to being able to build maps , The only two plugins (that i know of) that have map creaters are Rust io and Rustymap , Rust io will create "generated" maps which are not "live" so you cannot see position of plane or helicopter as you can on procedural maps,

I have only seen this alleged map but there seems to be some difficulties with it,
The server i am on changes the map after each wipe from the rust io "live" map list so you dont start off with the monuments in the same place each time,

Rust Wish List: Community Map Creation Tool for Static Maps (self.playrust)
submitted 3 months ago by Phear_Cassidy
Just
a program that lets players create maps and play them. This way maps
could be created that are composed of islands, all desert or tundra,
have only low tier radtowns or only high tier radtowns, have no caves or
many caves, etc.
Something like this could make servers stand out and allow players to make that Rust Legacy map they've always asked for.
Yes, I know this would take forever to do, that's why its "Rust Wish List" and not "Helk Plz"

Shiiiit son I love building maps, if this is true my Rust time will be more inside the SDK rather than the actual game!
I really hope this won't stop servers from having a unique map each wipe.... that's what I love on wipes
Of course it won't. You can already use +server.levelurl startup parameter to optimize loading time using a default procedural map by the way.
