How does the EVGA Step-up program work if nvidia releases new cards soon?

My Radeon 7950 from 2013 is dying and it won't last until the GTX 1170 is released. If I buy an EVGA 1070 today and the 1170 is released within the next 90 days, I can mail EVGA my 1070 and they will send me a 1170 and all I have to do is pay the difference in MSRP between the cards?

You need to initiate the step-up request within 90 days on their site when the new card is released. I recommend doing it ASAP.
