Dave Bautista Actively Pursuing Marcus Fenix Role in Gears of War Movie

Dave Bautista is pursuing the lead role of Marcus Fenix in the Gears of War movie. The so-called video game curse has resulted in some lacking entries into the genre, but it hasn't stopped studios from trying to succeed. There's plenty of future adaptations in the works, including one for The Coalition and Epic Games' big screen take on Gears of War. The sci-fi war game has been a massive hit for the studio and Microsoft since the franchise launched in 2006, and there's plenty more to come on the gaming side.
There's also been plenty of interest in bringing Gears of War into theaters. Coalition announced a partnership with Universal at the end of 2016 to help get the film project moving. Since that point though, there hasn't been a lot of news. The studios tapped Avatar 2 scribe Shane Salerno to write the script over a year ago, but nothing else has come to light.
If Gears of War is ever going to happen, it will need to secure a few more major pieces. The director will help shape the tone and style, but the cast will be a major factor in manufacturing further interest in the movie. It may be too early for casting at this stage of Gears of War's development, but Guardians of the Galaxy star Dave Bautista revealed during a Twitter Q&A with GameSpot that he's eager to be involved and play the lead role of Marcus Ennix.

Cool. He's a nice dude and I'd be untested in seeing him in a slightly more serious role then Drax.
He is literately the only person that could somehow fill the unrealistic proportions of a human being as seen in Gears of War. I think he would make a good Marcus.
But the real question is: who will be the Cole Train?
Lester Speight could easily fit the bill. He's Cole's voice actor in the videogames and I think his appearance and general likeness was used for Cole to begin with.

Cool. Dave's a decent actor who can handle more serious roles, if Blade Runner was anything to go by.
I mean, it can't be as bad as that old Doom movie with The Rock right?
I never made the connection of how similar he lookes to Marcus, but he's the perfect build and look for him
If he is cast, I can't wait for him to spew Marcus' most iconic line:
"Shiet".
Considering when the games were super popular, no one knew Dave could actually act. He's got chops, and it would be damn spot on casting if he was playing Marcus.
Also, someone on twitter suggested Luke Hemsworth could be a possible Baird

I could buy that. And Lester would probably be happy to play Cole. All you need to do is get someone to play Dom.
Who would ppay Dom though. Or better yet, carmine the 100th.
Oh man, wouldn't it be neat if we got some news about the movie at E3? They've been talking about a movie since the second game, so it's about time we heard something about it.
I guess my biggest worry is that they'll dumb down on the violence and dark humour. Not being even slightly sarcastic, taking away the excessive gore, brutality, swearing, and grit, and taking
down the humour would be a huge loss, and basically strip away what makes Gears of War, well, Gears of War.
A gears movie is just so bizarre that it might just work
I'd love it if Carmine dies a quarter into the movie and his brother comes in 15 minutes later and dies halfway through, with another brother living till the end
get this guy in it

There's no way you can fuck this up. Just xboxhueg dudes fighting durt monsters with a ton of gore and macho action. It would be so easy.
Dave was decent in Hotel Artemis
I hope they cast Shia LeBeof and Jack Black
Gimme costumed locust boys and make it a horror war movie like the first game was
Nah, just make them like the Uruk-Hai from LoTR. You don't even need super big dudes, just stuff a bunch of stuntmen into big padded suits.
Bushwick
Oh shit, forgot about those guys. But even then, having them be CG is totally reasonable.
