Well recently rust has started to download skins in the background when ever i join a server which causes my ping to sky rocket to 2000 or 1000 and most of the time it doesnt even download skins on steam and since the removal of the "global.skinnablewarmup" command it has been impossible to stop the download and makes playing rust nearly impossible for me but it is only happening to me and my friends from the same region don't have this problem
Is there a way to stop this ping lag or no ?
You can actually disable all skins if you manually edit the client.cfg file to include the line:
graphics.itemskins "0"
You will Can find you config in -
Program files x86/Steam/steamapps/common/Rust/cfg
Let me know how you go.
Nope ping still going inter-continental ballistic
Could you post all your PC specs?
i5-2400 CPU@ 3.10Ghz
8.00 GB ram
64 bit operating system
AMD HD5670
Are you wireless to your modem or cable?
Windows 10?
Any virtual memory?
Have you got other things running in the background?
What vid setting do you play on (potato etc.)?
Just on those specs above, Ram is at a minimum and would be better at 16GB.
I have always found that mixing Intel CPUs and AMD GPUs always causes the GPU to run at less than the listed specs.
As it is its only a 1GB card I think (best guess at tis point in time) that it just may be your issue but like everything PC related, its just one on a list of things it could be.
I will wait till you post the rest of your stats before I bet my left boob on it.
well you would be right if it was a FPS issue but it is a Ping issue which increases when ever i join a server
Well if you do get to the issue please post it here so the rest of us can learn from it.
Good Luck!
btw i am on cable net
Is it a modded server you trying to join ?
I had the same issue a few months ago whe joining a modded server.
Have you tried to join others servers ? Throttle your Steam downloads ?
Is there a workshop download appearing in your Steam downloads ? Maybe you can try to finish the download before joining the server.
