More Americans are crediting Trump with the stronger economy

but that isn't helping the GOP with voters

Moreover, voters increasingly connect that economic improvement to the president. Seven in 10 say the economy has improved during his tenure, up from six in 10 last June. The share crediting Trump for that improvement has grown to 44 percent, up from 38 percent last June.
That 44 percent precisely matches Trump's job approval in the new survey, up from 39 percent in April. Rising approval of Trump among white men and independents drives that improvement.
So far, however, the president's party has been unable to effectively link positive news to its effort to preserve control of Congress. Democrats hold a 10 percentage point edge over Republicans, 50 percent to 40 percent, when voters are asked which party they want to win midterm elections in November.
More than that, Democrats hold a significant advantage in voter enthusiasm. Fully 63 percent of Democrats express the highest levels of interests in the fall election, compared to 47 percent of Republicans.
Lol, they're just going over the crest now. It will be all down hill from here as tariffs rise around the world.
In other news waters wet. Americans are some of the dumbest mother fuckers on the planet. When obama got the tail end of the crash, everyone was blaming him when he passed almost nothing to that point. Like people think the president is basically a dude who throws a change out that immediately goes into effect as soon as he puts his name on it. Its like that comic where obama has two giant levers at his desk with gas and tax rates.
I think how the GOP in general is doing is more important, they have an election to deal with in like 4 months.
So if the economy gets spiked into the fucking dirt, it's Obama's fault right?
If Trump and the Republicans are responsible for a better economy, it's like putting jet fuel in your car. Okay yeah, it might be fast at first, but you're doing irreparable damage under the hood and eventually it's going to explode and a lot of people are going to be hurt.
Can't wait for Trumponomics to become the Republican bible of economics to replicate for the next 30 years and view Trump as the third coming off Christ.
it already is the republican bible, he learnt from the best.
https://www.nytimes.com/1987/04/18/business/president-imposes-tariff-on-imports-against-japanese.html
President Reagan, asserting that he was trying ''to enforce the principles of free and fair trade,'' imposed a 100 percent tariff today on some Japanese-made computers, television sets and power tools.
Free and fair trade, you give me all your money , and you get nothing. Free and fair for us, we win.
All you need is Jesus
I've had a deep feeling of dissociation with the political and education system,
It feels like it's completely ran down and in desperate need of a reboot.
And I have no idea how it can come about.
I'm sad.
people are short sighted. everytime the labor market has crunched this tight the US enters a recession.
And the trade war is going to help a lot.
I feel bad for everyone living in USA that isn't a fucking retard, you gotta deal with this bullshit first hand.
This happens elsewhere too (e.g. tories gained a boost from recession.) It's just basic association.
Nah dude, Obama's old hat. You gotta blame her e-mails.
Trump's basically in the right place at the right time to take credit for years of economic growth coming out of the crash for which he had no involvement. Let's see what happens after this trade war.
I feel like the definition of 'economic strength' is slightly skewed when most job numbers being posted are part time work which are terrible options for long term stability.
We have a stronger economy? Really haven't felt that too much. I got flashbacks to Obama when my cousin was praising Trump for bringing jobs to America.
"He's already brought jobs to this country and it's less than 2 years into his presidency!" my cousin said, failing to notice the hypocrisy of how he and other conservatives were all shrieking "It's just rollover from Bush's administration!" in 2008. 🤔
i hate the fact that i know plenty of people who think like this
they dont associate statistics with anything but what's going on currently, so it's literally just correlation = causation
jobs rising due to the yearly hike?
trump in office?
must be trump.
there's seriously no hind nor foresight in the population right now, people just assume that all changes take effect immediately.
it's the worst and i absolutely hate that this country has that mindset embedded in its education as well.
You know, maybe America deserves Trump...
The ones who willingly voted for him. If we could do an East/West Germany deal of the Trump supporters and non-supporters, you can probably predict which side would fare better in very short order.
If he didn't lose the popular vote by a relatively wide margin I'd agree. Have to keep in mind most Americans didn't vote for him and still don't approve of him.
For all the shit we talk on goldfish, we sure do have some short-ass memories.
See there you go with that "we" business again.
Idk where this "stronger economy" is but I haven't seen any of it. The only reason I've made any good money these last few years trading is because I played stocks against what makes
conventional economic sense and invested heavily in conservative talking points like defense companies, etc, where I knew idiots would be buying to drive my stock value up. Anyone who
thinks conservatives are good for the economy don't understand a healthy economy. In early 2016 before the election a bought a stock at $33 a share, and just this January my gut told me to sell at $90 a share, yeah that sounds like a great economic gain in 2 years, but it's horrible volatile and unhealthy speculation growth and this same stock has dropped to below $60 a share
now.
Healthy economy means steady long term gains for a healthy portfolio, this year hasn't provided that on my long term side, I've barely kept static value in that regard, and a lot of companies in certain sectors are going to be strangled by these shitty economic policies. We'll see a lot of bad shit in the following years, the only people making money on this presidency are his cronies
and people with just enough money to potentially throw it away in speculative investment prior to seeing the idiot hype train pass through wall street.
If Jesus were around he'd be lynched or otherwise made a total joke by the majority of those who claim to be Christian, especially amongst Republicans and their politicians, because they're total hypocrites.
Some Americans do. There's plenty of us who voted to avoid this outcome though.
If you support Jesus, all your problems go away. Your bad teeth, your sons college debt, your liver disease and even your weirdly itchy left testicle all magically goes away and is cured.
Jokes aside though, a lot of people replace education with religion and its fucking terrifying.
Then maybe jesus needs to bring in those more than 12 legions of angels to clean the house.
