iirc the way Trump and McConnell believe in is storing gasses underground or something, which sounds like it would just add costs to coal plants and do nothing to save the dying industry anyway.
It's not even renewable energy that is killing coal - it's oil and gas.Trump only keeps focusing on coal because it is a narrative he's already driven into his base's skulls. Not to mention that the disappearing coal jobs are due to automation anyway.
