https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1knnIrvr4HE As an aside, here's the previous video which was about the 27,000 dollar Legatus package. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=04HXnDNu5xM I don't entirely agree with his assessment that CIG is in some way responsible for rabid fans however, at the same time when your child is threatened in graphic detail I have to agree that any semblance of self control is incredibly difficult to come by.
SidAlpha has always had a pretty staunch sense of responsibility when it comes to his audience and it makes sense he would extend it to other people if only as an ethical standard. As far as I'm aware, CIG hasn't really done anything to counteract the rabid, borderline cult-like following they have gathered over the years. Even acknowledging, and subsequently discrediting anyone involved in such shit would be a good move, but that would be a potential financial sinkhole since there is definitely more money to be made from being supported by crazy, toxic mongs than actively telling them to fuck off.
So they're SMASH fans except they shower and have real jobs? If it's good it's good, if it sucks it sucks, if a game manages to form a rabid fanbase full of manical fools, then how is that any different from any other game ever? Pretty sure WoW had it's fare share of felony assaults, robberies, extramarital affairs, pedophiles hunting down and grooming children, etc. Then again, my SC honeymoon ended about 3 years ago, and at this point I only look at it as a potential investment opportunity by manipulating the gray market, should the right ships or items become available.
They're toxic as fuck because you have these people that aren't just justifying to others why they wasted thousands of dollars in a game that's not even close to being finished, they're also justifying to themselves why they did it. It's a really bad case of buyers remorse, they don't want to even believe in the possibility that they've probably fucked up with thousands of dollars, that realisation would be potentially mentally devastating for them so they get extremely defensive about it. In a way it is CGI's fault for allowing these massive money spendings by creating such expensive packs for sale, people wouldn't be so defensive if they hadn't spent so much money and then had to justify that massive spenditure to not appear fucking dumb to others and themselves.
