Doug Ford, Brother of Former Toronto Mayor Rob Ford, Wins Majority in Ontario

'We have taken back Ontario'
This is to be expected, the party was projected to win if they'd put a donkey in charge of it, the possible former hash dealer brother of the Crack Mayor didn't hurt the party's numbers at all.
Absolutely to be expected, that the Liberals managed to hold on to power for this long is surprising in itself.
At this point I'm just hoping that the Liberals finish below eight seats. Its time for them to be humbled.
drastic reduction in the price of hydro and gasoline.
What is hydro?
They're at 6 elected, leading 1. I hope they lose official party status too.
I'm legit so happy that the Green Party won Guelph though. I was rooting for Schreiner to win it. Now all the leaders of the 4 major parties have won their respective seats, as Wynne managed to keep hers too.
Well, we're fucked.
I voted Green in my riding (a PC stronghold) so I'm happy to see them get that seat. The spend-free policies advocated by all three major policies weren't exactly the change I was looking for, and Doug Ford is just such a goof. Had Christine Elliott won PC leadership I probably would have voted PC.
I was really hoping Elliott would win the nomination too. Considering she won popular vote in that leadership election, the Trump/Ford comparisons started almost immediately.
Four years in opposition might not be a bad thing for the NDP. This election did show some inexperience in the NDP slate that can be ironed out by next election. And given the shape this province is in right now, it may be best to not be the party tasked with trying to clean up the messes left behind by the Liberal government.
That, and give the NDP a chance to finally put the ghost of Bob Rae to rest.

Yea, As DaCommie1 said, Ontario's Green Party have achieved historical one seat in Guelph provincial electoral district.
And also in same time Province's only right-wing third party Trillium Party of Ontario has lost one.
Well the Trilliums never really won the seat in the first place, that guy was a Conservative who was expelled from caucus.
Embarrasing for MacLaren. All that talk about whether he could hold on and he just gets blown right the fuck out.
Yea, besides his party isn't recognized by provincial government as 'Official party' anyway.
I can't say I'm surprised either... I just really, really, really hope that his ideas regarding 'efficiencies' don't involve cutting off entire pieces of OHIP. I just have this bad feeling though.
I wish I could pull up the clip but it was live on CBC Toronto this morning, there was a PC staffer saying that once they reveal the 'real numbers' behind Ontario's finances we're going to realize how bad it is and how much is going to need to be 'trimmed back'. So that's super encouraging.
Good luck with Trump Mini.
It feels really good to no longer feel at home in the province I have lived my entire life. I had no idea that so many people would come out of the woodworks and vote for a Trump protege, but here we are.
Fuck this
There's always a chance he'll turn out to have a raging crack habit as well and that'll wreck his career about as bad as it wrecked Rob's life (though the cancer finished the job). I don't make a point of getting really nosy into peoples' families and their private business but I learned way too much about the Ford family during the Rob Ford crack era to know that they're dysfunctional as hell.
Doug is also getting pressure from Rob's widow to get his ass in gear and properly execute Rob's estate, as he's just been dragging ass on it for two years while there's a whole ton of ambiguity because it turns out Rob's will was shittily written. Among her allegations is a tidbit that the family business, built up by Doug and Rob's father, is not profitable and they're faking it with all sorts of dodgy transactions to appear financially solvent and hide the rotting failure. So, that could be a potentially great scandal to trigger a leadership fight among the PCs, if Ontarioans are lucky.
This guy's really like a Lite version of Trump. I used to work with a guy who claimed to be very familiar with him - says his family was deep into under the table drug deals and working with area gangs back when they ran factories this guy worked at. Hope that isn't true, but he certainly gives off the vibe.
I'm amazed Ontario would elect him. Hope he doesn't fuck up OHIP.
Doug Ford was a known hash dealer in the 80s. This was one of the little gems that emerged when Rob was playing Crack Mayor.
Assuming he sticks to his "promises" for tax cuts basically everywhere; expect health care to be cut massively, education to be cut, and any other governmental jobs to see cuts as well.
His "plan" had by far the biggest deficit out of the big three, and unlike the Liberals and NDP, he never actually released or created a costed plan, so we have no idea how he's going to balance it at all.
Dude literally has no plan. Like he keeps saying he'll slash Hydro prices by like, 30% but every time he's questioned he dodges it and smiles at the camera.
Literally any other candidate would have been better.
I called him Trump Mini for a reason.
BC and Ontario have a history of tossing scrappy bants back and forth but seriously, good luck, boys. Good fucking luck and hang on tight.
On the other hand, if legalized weed goes off as I expect in BC, expect our economy to be lighting up around the time Doug starts pulling the fuses out of Ontario's, so if you can move there's that.
But anyway, This is ended of Ontario Liberal Party political major rule of province since Ontario's first general election.
Now it's mostly time before few remaining MPPs will join both Green and New Democratic Parties to stay be relevant.
NDP and Libs should really find a way to work together, dang.
Ontario's first general election was a tie, and the Conservatives governed as the leader, then 30 years of Liberals, then 30 years of Conservatives, then 20 years of Liberals, then 40 years of Conservatives. So I don't know where you got the idea that the Liberals have had "major rule" over the province since its inception.
And has Andrew Scheer done anything even remotely Trump-like? No. He's not trying to build a brand around himself, or run on a hugely populist, in-your-face, loud platform, so I don't know where this federal "Trump" you're expecting is going to come from, but it's not going to be from the Conservative Party.
Someone in a discord I'm part of is from Canada, and claims that his father actually grew up with Rob and Doug. Doug as an adult was also apparently part of his aunt's friend's circle. He (the guy on the discord) said the rumors about Doug being a drug dealer are true, "not that it matters anymore." Does this surprise any of you Canadian facepunchers?
Makes him the most qualified candidate to design Ontario's legal marijuana market.
This was the worst thing to happen this morning.
Anthony Bourdain killed himself this morning, that's rather undeniably worse than someone you don't like winning an election.
Yea, You right I just checked out. And it's now corrected.
Also forget of only 5 years of New Democrats in half of the 1990s.
And for reason of calling 'majority rule' due of how most seats got each of these three parties from different periods in Ontario's history you mentioned about.
For last part, Is only depends if Scheer wants to copy Trump and now Ford Jr's actions to pandering "Anti-establishment" right-wing voters for upcoming next nationwide general election.
