Yes. Yes I did.

Apologies for the aliasing. Source seems to handle the blocks like it does with foliage and I didn't really see this scene worth enough effort to fix
I've had this idea sitting in my head for the past week or so and thought i'd test the concept.
Minecraft used to be such a huge thing and yet I can't remember any tasteful Minecraft-themed screenshots made in Source Engine.
Yours, however, at least in my opinion, deserves a diamond of artistic appreciation.
This is pretty neat, but you might want to consider replacing the gray cubemap with something else- Even if not for the actual background, for the ambient/diffuse lighting.
I feel it would be better without that very light grey filter you've got going on. While I get that it's probably to even out the contrast and make it seem less jarring, it really mugs out the colors, which is a pretty key element to Minecraft's art style. Also there's some color banding you might want to smooth out in the BG.

That grey filter was actually a couple Z-Depth passes and me gaussian blurring the ever living fuck out of the sun layer (which is also what gave me the colour banding) for some atmospheric haze, which I haven't really tackled before.
It's a good idea, I just think using a greyish (or otherwise neutral-to-white) color for it is a bad idea. If you used a yellow or an orange it'd probably come off a lot better, especially with the amount of yellow, brown, and green on show here.
