Yikes.
The Australian government is so fucking backwards.
They're upside down actually, but this is Austria, not Australia.
Oh god I just went and made that mistake didn't I, fuck.
Considering how many of these foreign-funded imams are funded by the Saudis and their cancerous tumor of an ideology, I really do not care. Not one bit. Next lets deal with Salafist preachers.
I'm all for stopping foreign-funded imams, but flat out shutting down mosques isn't right. I'm not religious, but people should have religious freedom. Foreign-funded imams and mosques are pretty fucked though. There were a few funded by Turkey during our elections. They tried to get people to vote for a pro-Turkey anti-Dutch party. Didn't work, but still pretty horrible that people stoop low enough to use religion to influence people. It's not exactly a modern thing, but still.
The problem some mosques (and some muslims there) have is that they are backwards. There was a guy called Constantine Schreiber in Germany, who travelled through 13 random mosques in our country and he wrote a book about it. What is being preached there over headphones is like 90% not understandable for the normal people, even for someone like Schreiber who speaks fluent arabic. The muslims that go to mosques say it's a place of integration but when asked about it, they don't really make it clear. They also say that the Germans are the foreigners in this country and they are the citizens, they speak about how the money from the job center actually comes from Allah and not from the taxes that people pay and some other really weird things.
Yeah, not gonna miss foreign-funded imams, but shutting down all mosques? Yowza:
I think we can all agree that taking away funding from Imans who are preaching actual hateful messages is completely fine and even justifiable. But shutting down those who're legit and don't support the other twats? No. That's stupid. Hell, I'd argue it's against the freedom of religion.
Even if they're not hateful its not right if they're funded by foreign powers, especially Turkey.
Luckily, that isn't the case. This is seven mosques run by Turkey.
7 != all That leaves 198 registered mosques and several unregistered "gathering places" awaiting incorporation.
Oops, sorry. Went off half-cocked. Thank you for the correction!
I think this is something all countries should be doing, get rid of the hate mosques funded by places like Turkey and Saudi Arabia that act as subversive elements within the host countries.
Good on them. Time more countries followed their lead.
Agreed, I wish we had this kind of Common Sense and across the board not just mosques. Places of worship shouldn't be for pushing socio-political agendas on the vulnerable or suggestable.
Unfortunately, faith and society are intertwined by nature.
Good, more western countries need to follow suit. There is nothing wrong with people practicing their religious beliefs but thats really really different to politically motivated religion funded by foreign powers that time and time again undermine the countries they are deployed to.
So get rid of the extremist faith so you don't end up with an extremist society. That's the end goal of these funds anyway.
It's frustrating to know that in the UK there have been found Wahabi preaching mosques dragged into the spotlight and all that has happened is we have slapped them on the wrist and kindly asked them not to do it again. Then of course they go and do it again and never would change, only putting a mask on when daylight investigators come. The British gov have such a pussy stance to it that these people know fine well they can romp around and do what they want, it's breeding a horrible culture and causing anger in the public towards the wider better natured Muslim population. It is entirely against British and European values and they shut be shut down and turned into fucking casino's and nightclubs for all I care. There is no place for it here.
This is the sort of step that historians would use as an example of how bureaucracy and incremental measures can creep up. "They expelled several imams, shut down several mosques and justified it by citing their foreign ties. Next they..." This could easily go south but let's hope not.
If another country tries to influence the balance of power through religion and sends imams/priests etc. that are paid by them then you have every right to kick them out.
Shut down the foreign funding, and install some real imams. Turn it into a real mosque.
There's actually some sense in your first line. Prisons are a large part of radicalization unfortunately.
