This is so minor and stupid. The reason for the change is stupid and getting mad cause they changed it is stupid.

I'd say putting the egg there in the salad was stupid in the first place, but removing it is a dumb non-thing to do and being mad about it is a dumb non-issue. When I say the egg shouldn't have been there, it's because it does not add anything to the symbol of 'salad', and if anything, it narrows it down to mean less than an eggless salad emoji does; so having the egg (very very very slightly) reduces the clarity and utility of the emoji.

Yeah might as well remove the tomatoes too, salad is supposed to be green, and while we do that we can be inclusive of people who can't eat tomatoes. If only they had used your excuse to remove the egg no one would have cared. The reason why it's stupid is because they want to be inclusive.

Yeah I don't know why these companies keep trying to appear progressive and inclusive with shallow pointless gestures when it always just blows up in their face? People who care about inclusive and progressive politics see how shallow it is and are probably not impressed in the slightest, and people who hate things being inclusive or progressive get mad about it &/or ridicule the decision. Who does it appeal to?

If their goal is maximum 'inclusion' they just fucked up though There are categorically more non-vegans than vegans worldwide, so by doing this Google's net inclusivity just went down the poop chute. People are annoyed at Google's biased pandering - not the stupid pixels on a digital salad.

Like the skintone-modifier, they need to add a salad-modifier that allows you to fine tune the salad to your own liking. A salad without any kind of onion isn't a salad. It's shrubbery.

There's a pretty easy solution to this: 🥗‍🥚 ZWJ sequences (assuming Facepunch doesn't filter it) aren't standardised, so Google can just add egg salad this way. That's how Windows has 🐱‍🐉.
