I see addons on the very first front page, and they have like only a few hundret visitors and subs. How are they on the front page? For example, my newest addon that i uploaded 2 days ago already got 800 subs, 2 hours ago it was 600...and people love it. How does that come not being on the front page?
No im not taking the piss. But im actually wondering how some addons with only a few hundret (one only has 400 and is there) subs gets to the front page, and some huge others dont? Looks really weird..
The front page content is decided by Steam's algorithm. It takes these factors into effect:
Number of subscribers
Time on the workshop
Time since Gabe Newell had lunch
The Quantum Flux number
Previous Workshop submissions
Number of Steam Friends
Number of Real-Life frends
Based on all that, the algorithm decides to ignore all factors, pick addons at random and mark them "hot". This automatically makes them hot, and thusly, the algorithm works.
Hope this answers your questions. In case it doesn't, try reloading the Workshop homepage.
well..my simple ass addon made it on the freaking front page now. so i doubt any logic
No, didn't you read the previous post? Gabe must have just had lunch.
