Can Vending Machines be improperly picked up/Despawn?

As per the recent patch, I was playing on Rusteros 2x, a lightly modded server. I set up a vending machine, as I do almost every wipe (I have over 1,300 hours in Rust), and loaded it up with some early-game goodies. I had a few people come buy and use it, and I had access to its rear panel (Which faced towards my base, of course). However, while I was sitting in my base due to it being night, I went to check on my machine and saw it gone. Entirely. I had it placed inside of a doorframe, as per usual, and the selling side was out. However, it was gone. An empty door slot and nothing else. My front entrance was still secured with a shotgun trap and closed door, and there were no other ways "In" to my base.
Now, my question is did someone steal it somehow, or did it despawn? I've had shops like this one many, many times, and while I admit user error could be at play here, I know for this instance it surely wasn't user error. I had checked it myself outside before and it was set up fine, but when it disappeared it was just gone (As was everything inside of it).
Any explanation for this? I also have a Rust problem where I cannot see vending machine symbols on the map (Not even the Outposts'), but maybe that is due to the modded server.
Of course, to clarify I was the only one with access to my (locked) tool cupboard, and, again, the vending machine was the correct way around.
