6 years in development and it looks no different then when it was first shown. Scalebound was cancelled for this. With Microsoft only showing off 1 Xbox exclusive (battletoads) there's no reason for owning an Xbox One.
Still excited just annoyed they keep taking their damn time with this
Not looking that impressive tbh. It seems like they're just trying to ape Saints Row with the goofiness, and I can't stand the "Just put some neon on it and call it Cyberpunk" aesthetic. Plus this is the second new trailer of it that conspicuously lacks that destruction system they were touting, though I don't think anyone's too surprised it's been removed considering it was relying on the Xbox's always-online requirement to make its cloud computing work.
I'll stand by this; Crackdown was only fun because of the time it came out. It was the only game that really allowed you to take an open world by storm and let you traverse through it seamlessly. But now that's like square one of every single video game to come out now. If they focused on the future of the series and went with the Destruction system it could turn out really great; but it just seems like they're focusing on the "I like jumping high and collecting the orbs" sentiment from 2007.
The destruction system is probably running like shit on xbox one and it's why the game as been delayed multiple time so far.
I mean, I can't fault them for sticking to what made the original games fun and just adding more shit to play with, I know I would have loved that back when Crackdown 2 was my shit. After all this time though it would have been nice if they did more than just bring the series to current gen consoles. I highly doubt it will justify full-price.
Is it just me or is the game starting to look worse than last time we saw it? They seem to go more for the Borderlands-style graphics, too, I think.
Crackdown has always been cell shaded. The first game was, the second game was, so of course the third game is. Crackdown came out in 2007. Borderlands came out in 2009.
So they cut the only thing i was interested in, the building destruction. They built their entire presenation last year about it but just remove it later. What a joke.
But that was always an online thing with Microsoft's dedicated servers. It'd be dead within a year or two anyway.
No it wasn't? Neither of the first two are cel shaded and neither is this one, what are you talking about?
Giant Scorpion Just looking at the game itself, yeah it is, unless a thick black border around objects, characters, items, really anything occluded by light isn't cell shaded
A black outline isn't cel shading, it's just a black outline.
Alright, I'm not really going to argue dude, it says it is in the wikipedia list, it's commonly called one by other people(not just me) and that was a big discussion piece back when Crackdown 1 released because I remember people talking about it.
It's still wrong. Crackdown just has a stylized look to it. Cel shading refers to a specific shading style and Crackdown does not have it.
whatever it's a mix between cel shading and realism Borderlands isn't even "Cel shaded" properly either IIRC. It's just a close enough style that's what people called it Honestly, if you think it's not, cool. I don't really care, and will likely refer to it as cel shaded in the future because it's close enough that no one really seems to care
The building destruction was always going to be multiplayer only, single player is a different map with none of that fancy stuff. They strangely haven't shown any multiplayer footage though...
Anyone got a source for the destruction being cut out? It's crazy they would just gut that. The omission in the trailer is almost proof, I'd just like to read about it. Man I was really looking forward to it.
They don't outright say it in the gamescom video (which is definitely a communication error on their part) but he does emphasise multiple times that the demo is specifically of the muiltplayer game, if you listen to the first minute: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EWANLy9TjRc http://uk.ign.com/articles/2015/08/06/gamescom-2015-crackdown-3-release-window-announced Further clarification stated the 100 percent destruction is only available in online mode, due to the cloud processing required. Offline mode will have limited destruction.
cel shader vs. no cel shader https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/217354/02017729-d9f9-4a7c-8be7-e20066cd456d/image.png "cel shaded" has come to just mean "tries to emulate a drawn visual style" but I can see why some people are bothered since cel shading does actually refer to something very specific
