Oh yeah it's the game that was in development hell. Wait, Gearbox is helping? Oh no. This can't be good.
Gearbox is the one that raised the cost, anything with their name attached to it just gets a big resounding SIIGGH from me
could have just made a thrilling campaign in a semi open world environment like bioshock or prey, but they had to tack on that rouge like city generator with survivor elements.
No, the rub is this game was originally envisioned as a roguelike random-gen map with survivor gameplay, that’s what they first showed at PAX and whatnot. It took the lukewarm reception for them to start working on a campaign.
Actually that's mostly what it is now. Jeff Gerstmann said on the Giant Bomb coverage of the Microsoft conference that it is a way more story focused game as opposed to what it was, largely in part to the funding that Gearbox gave them.

But least they stick their promise in Kickstarter with New playable characters.
Didn't helped they Compulsion Games are now acquired by Microsoft Studios as subsidiary during E3 2018.
This game has been in dev so long I'd assume it already came out.
This game is legitimately terrible. I'm... shocked. Gearbox, what are you doing????
It's a shame this games been stuck in development hell for so long because I really like the style and design used in it.
im confused at all the people complaining about development hell when a release dates given right on the tin
The setting, story and the entire concept of this game is amazing.
But it's a little infuriating to see them throw it away by hamfisting it unto gameplay elements that doesnt fit at all.
It's funny because the game was in development cycle when survival was all the rage, and now that it's taken too long to get released people have mostly gotten over that 'phase'
I still can't figure out why they needed to partner with Gearbox.
If they're partnering with Gearbox, I assume it's because they had no other choices for income.
