https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-court-purge/supreme-court-upholds-ohio-voter-registration-purge-policy-idUSKBN1J71QQ tl;dr Ohio will remove you from the voting registration if you don't vote often enough
Writing for the majority, conservative Justice Samuel Alito said the court was not deciding whether Ohio’s policy “is the ideal method for keeping its voting rolls up to date. The only question before us is whether it violates federal law. It does not.” Though declaring parts of the 65 Voting Right Act unconsittutional must have been a boon to disenfranchisement in the south.
Why do people have such a hardtime adopting a system akin to North Dakota's? You are auto-registered, come in, say where you live, and boom. You vote. That's it. No closed election crap like New York, no biased/segregated elections akin to the South, no stupid registration systems with complicated hoops... Just simple case of, "Yes sir, my name is Mr. X and, I do infact live here in North Dakota, and pay taxes!"
Because republicans stay in power by disenfranchising the average voter, knowing that their side will religiously vote for them so as long as they keep democrats and blacks from voting they are a shoe in for a job when election year comes around.
North Dakota is about as Republican as they come.
That's not a counterargument; it makes more sense that a contested state with famously poor black communities like Alabama or Georgia would see more voter disenfranchisement designed to lower the political power of those groups. If there's no threat because the state is super republican in its actual population, there's nobody to worry about systematically under-representing.

Hell, we elected a baby as president, electing a dog as senator wouldn't be that much worse.

Ohio's a really important state for presidential elections, it's a very politically even state. Whoever wins Ohio usually wins the election, nice going there gop.
It's not like he's got anything important to do oh wait he was about to meet Kim Jong-Un.
