I think it would be awesome to have a very simple underground tunnel system to get from my base to my watch tower in the middle of a fight.
Having a system where you place a hatch in your base and then in your tower and it automatically generates a very basic tunnel only big enough for you to get from point A to B would be ideal. Even implementing a max distance so people cannot build a tunnel from their base to a monuments would eliminate any OP traveling. Even adding a max number of tunnels per tool cupboard would help from lagging a server down too much.
I just think it would add a really interesting twist to raiding a base, because you dont know where theyre going to be. But if you do not protect your watch tower well enough, the raiders could break in there, and use your own tunnel system against you.
It'll make raiding and defending more strategic imo.
50/50 on this idea, the general rough idea sounds good in your head... But in concept, this just sounds really exploitable.
Rust is already laggy af without tunnels. If they add tunnels, my processor will definitely burn in 5x moded servers in wipe day
I mean, these dont have to be complex. Just simple dirt graphics will do. And it's not that it needs to be extreme. Just a way for me to get to a watch tower to throw off the enemy real quick.
In my opinion, the person inside the base is already at a huge disadvantage. Theyre stick inside and cant do much in those constraints. Being able to throw off an attacker by getting behind them would be huge. Or sneaking into someones base right up the middle would be awesome.
Just some extra thoughts.
No you dont get it. I believe that you are a role player more than a pvper. When I try to raid you, if you took all your shit and run to your other base without even giving a fuck, I will be mad and lost all my rockets for an empty base.
Tunnels only makes online raidigin impossible.
No, I am by all means a pvper. But your example makes sense. See I would use this application only with a watch tower rather than a completely second base. That way I can get a different advantage to defend my base.
To simplify it even more just let us build a basement level for bases. You could then just extend your basement and use it is a tunnel.
I like that idea, but does that cross lines into being able to build underground? Or would there be a depth limit so you can't have an entire base underground minus a small shack up top
Guys stop arguing. This is something that CANT BE DONE. its impossible. Its stupid from every pov and technically not POSSIBLE. Because rust doesnt draw underground. Its not codes that way. If they add this stupid tunnel shit into game, it would take forever to load map.
Meh I don't like it, but I really don't have any good arguments against it. TBH if FP implemented it I'd be like "sure" and if they didn't I'd be like "sure" so yeah Imma sit this one out...
